Who: Isabel Evans and OPEN (Please let me dream with your character, person!)
What: Isabel is dropping in on someone’s dream to see if she can trust them.
Where: Wherever your character’s dream is set! Really, Isabel is in her motel room and yours is probably in their bedroom, but it’s a dream. Get it?
When: Early evening
Isabel was perfectly aware that there were people around who offered housing for free, but she didn’t trust it. It was her experience that nothing was ever truly free. Besides, she’d spent all of her life watching her back and looking out for herself. She saw no reason to change her ways just because some weird, magical seal had sent her twelve years into the future.
Some people had no choice on the matter. They had to rely on the charity of others. Isabel’s self-reliance was remarkably on point, though, due to the fact that she had abilities not everyone had. She’d been using her alien ability to change the basic molecular structure of things to turn one dollar bills into hundreds. She could go on doing this forever, if she needed to, but knew that all of the hundred dollar bills in the world couldn’t help her in certain situations. If she was outnumbered, really truly outnumbered, she was doomed. The people in these parts were friendly and presented themselves as good people, but when could a person ever believe those things for certain?
Isabel knew what she would have to do. Since she was little she had been eavesdropping on people’s dreams and she’d learned that you could usually trust what individuals said in their own dreams. Maybe it was part of her ability or maybe it was just how the subconscious mind operated. It didn’t matter. What mattered was getting to know people one by one in their dreams to figure out if they were on her side or on someone else’s side.
Getting into a comfortable position on the musty smelling motel bed, Isabel held a picture she’d taken of one person in particular and stared at it, really letting the image sink into her mind, and entered the dreamscape.
