"I wouldn't have offered if I did," Rose pointed out, glancing sideways at him. What had happened? She didn't know, she couldn't know. If she knew, she'd care. And she couldn't let him through those defenses she'd built up, not again. It was different with the other him. The new one. She could look at him and while yes, she knew that it was technically the same man, she could separate it in her mind. This one? This one she was still on that beach, listening to him say she was being left there. She was still hearing those long needed words coming from his duplicate and then he was gone, this man in front of her. Gone to a world she so desperately wanted to be in.
But if there was one fault in Rose, and there were actually many, but one would be her curiosity. And after she pulled out her mobile and called for a cab, she led him to a bench, making sure he sat so she could look him over. "What happened?" she asked, eyeing some of the more severe bruises and cuts warily. "We've a doctor back at the Complex. An actual medical one," she added with a wry smile. "Or, you could suck it up and ask the other you for help. The infirmary's still there."
