None of this scene was helping Anatoly remain calm. He sure as Hell wasn't about to let these assholes have their way with Svetlana. He probably should have given more thought to who would take care of their children if they both ended up dead, or in the hospital after this. But rational thought was far from his mind right now. All he could think about was the scene right in front of him and knowing he couldn't let this happen to Svetlana.
When the knife came out, followed by the chuckle and the man biting Svetlana's neck, all Anatoly could see was red. "You bastard, let her go!!!" And then without further thought, Anatoly charged at the man. Of course, Svetlana was in between them, but he held the remainder of the two-by-four up at an angle to smack him in the head, hoping that it would cause him to let go of Svetlana. One of them wasn't getting out of this completely unscathed and death was a real possibility, but as long as he could do anything about it, he wouldn't let it be Svetlana that paid the price. He was perfectly willing to make the scarifice himself if it came down it. After all, the man had a knife, all he had was a broken board. But oh, he'd go down fighting if he had to. Fighting for the woman he still loved, the mother of his children.
