She was already more clever than Cade had been. The man had been so caught up in his nightmare that he hadn't thought for a second that Lucifer didn't belong in it. Elphaba, here, was different. She knew, right away, that he wasn't a part of the picture she'd created in her head. Perhaps she wasn't entirely aware that her dream was being invaded upon, but she, at least, had the common sense to question the faces that she did not recognize. "No, I'm obviously not," Lucifer agreed, the faintest trace of a smile flickering across his calm features. Hands clasped together in front of himself, Lucifer kept his eyes pinned on no one and nothing but Elphaba. Their surroundings were of little circumstance to him. He knew her story. He knew her. Lucifer knew exactly what he was going to do to make the green witch snap.
"My name is Lucifer," he informed her, still calm as ever. "And this is a dream. Everything except for me, of course. I'm real. I saw an opening in your mind and I took it, because I've been looking for the perfect opportunity to talk with you." Lucifer waved his hand through the air once, as if to suggest that their surroundings were a slight inconvenience. "I would have gladly found you in person, if you and your friends weren't so talented at warding angels away. It's effective, of course, but it makes me look less...personal. I prefer personal. I feel it's much warmer, don't you?"
Lucifer didn't give Elphaba time to answer that. "I want to apologize in advance for invading your mind. But as I said before, this was the only way I could see you face to face." That said, Lucifer continued on with the subject he'd invaded on prior to Elphaba questioning him, hoping that he could get things back on the right track before Elphaba started throwing down her cards of suspicion and annoyance. And, oh, they would come. Lucifer did not expect a single ounce of friendly behavior from any of the people he had chosen to personally visit. That would have been foolish of him. Humans, after all, were so very easy to anger. "You were talking, before I interrupted, " Lucifer pointed out, "you said you were a good person. In fact, you seemed all too determined to convince yourself of that. Do you think that you are? Truly?"
