WHO: Clark and Caroline!
WHAT: Vacation time!
WHEN: Backdated a week or so.
WHERE: PARIS!
RATING: PG for now.

A promise was a promise and Clark Kent was definitely not the type of person who went around breaking promises on a regular basis, especially when it came to the people that he cared about. Caroline Forbes. Recently turned vampire, who also recently found herself walking a path that had resulted in a lot of bad. It was with a lot of hard work and effort that Caroline stepped back onto a decent path, one that Clark hoped she'd stay on. He wanted to be there for her. He wanted to make sure that she had every reason to veer away from the darkness that she had surrounded herself in before, both for the sake of herself and all those people that she had the potential to harm in the process.

Furthermore, for himself, because if Caroline strayed far without any chance of turning back again, Clark knew he'd have to take a course of action that he'd hate himself for the rest of his life for seeing through. Others would as well. Caroline's friends. Those people who cared for her and didn't want to see her get hurt as much as and probably more than Clark did himself. They knew her from home. They had known her longer. They didn't want to lose her. Though, if Clark had anything to say about it, they wouldn't. Which was why Paris had felt like a good idea. A chance to get away from all of the bad memories that Caroline probably had stuffed away in her head after her slip in Lawrence. Clark had taken her to an entirely different place, hoping that the freedom of Paris would grant her the opportunity to relax and ease away from all of the bad that she'd endured over the past few months.

Now he could only hope that it was working.

One hand buried into the pocket of his jeans (the other was occupied with carrying whatever it was that Caroline had decided to bring along), Clark walked alongside Caroline quietly, surveying their surroundings for the first time since they had arrived. The view had been beautiful from the sky, but on foot everything was different. The streets were busy, the buildings were tall and wonderful, and there was so much going on by way of differences in their surroundings in comparison to everything back home that Clark really couldn't help but take a few moments to revel in it.

He really need to travel more.

"So what do you think?" Clark asked, looking to Caroline curiously.

Caroline had been trying not to think of the last few months. She didn't want to remember the power swap or the time that followed it. It was part out of shame, and part out of knowing a part of her had enjoyed doing what she had done. She didn't want to be that person - that vampire. If Edward Cullen could be a vegetarian, why couldn't she?

She was amazed by Paris (not to mention amazed by the fact that Clark had actually taken her), it really was just like something out of a fairytale. The people, the sights, the colours - everything about it was amazing. Caroline could easily stay here forever. It was also away from Lawrence, and all the troubles and drama, memories, everything.

"I love it," Caroline beamed, wanting to throw her arms around Clark in a hug - but she resisted (for now). "It's better than I ever dreamed it could be. I could stay here forever."

She ran a hand through her hair, excitedly glancing around before glancing back at Clark. "What about you, what do you think?"

She seemed pleased. That was good. More than good, actually. It was a present, constant emotion that Clark could easily pick out, which was so unlike before, when Caroline was unstable and lost in a state of mind that even he couldn't entirely understand. It was comforting, seeing Caroline this way. Not worried or scared or out of sorts - just here. Happy and here. "I think," Clark contributed, giving their surroundings another thoughtful once-over, "that you and I are officially going to have to wave Lawrence, Kansas good-bye forever. I'm never going back." Clark grinned and elbowed Caroline playfully (and carefully at that), then pointed off to some of the sights in the distance. "There's so much history here. I can't believe this is the first time I've actually gone out of my way to come here." One would have assumed he'd have taken to it sooner with his ability to tour the world in record time, but Clark had spent so much of his youth trying to figure himself out in between trying to fit in that he simply hadn't bothered at all. Plus, there was tending to the farm and sticking close to his parents, who Clark had grown up feeling pretty overprotective of. He still was, really.

Sweeping past a group of chattering tourists, Clark pulled Caroline to the side and flashed her a bright smile. "So, where to first? There's the Louvre, the Notre Dame cathedral, the Eiffel Tower..." Which, funnily enough, they could easily see in the distance from where they were standing now. Clark twisted his mouth thoughtfully, making a mental note to pull Caroline aside later, when it was dark enough out for them to do things a little less 'normally' without people taking much notice. He wanted to show her the Eiffel Tower from the sky. Clark thought that maybe she'd appreciate that. Getting here without being seen was one thing, but touring the place? Yeah, they would definitely have to wait until later tonight.

But that didn't mean that they couldn't stick to the ground while the sun was still out. He was still pretty firm on his belief that the view from down here had it's own fascinating perks to be explored. "Our first location is your choice." Clark paused. "Unless you're hungry?" Another pause, then Clark leaned in carefully, brows knitting together in concern. "You do...eat, don't you? Or should we find something more...uh, for you?"

"I would love to stay here forever," Caroline beamed. For a few seconds she had a vision of the two of them doing just that, living like royalty (since Caroline would use her compulsion to get them money, and the like) - she had a feeling Clark wouldn't be sold on that idea at least. "It's like being in another world. I totally get why all those fictional vampires come here now." Caroline wondered if there really were a lot of vampires in the city, not that she really cared - this was going to be a drama free, and monster free trip.

There was so much to see that Caroline was practically buzzing, where could they start? She wanted to see everything, and take it all in. "Notre Dame!" she said excitedly. "I want to see the gargoyles!" A tiny part of Caroline hoped that they sang, after all if vampires, and Superman were real why not singing gargoyles?

Caroline couldn't help but laugh slightly at Clark's question. "Sorry," she said, covering her mouth with her hands. "I'm not laughing at you," she ran her hands through her hair. "Yes I can eat, it's just not very filling. You should see me back in Lawrence sometimes, I won't stop eating. It's the only thing that fights the cravings - and I got that covered," she nodded.
