He was paying yes. This one time. "You're new here, you get one free coffee from me. That's it. Don't read anything into it." he told her as he waited for the coffee to arrive. He wasn't forgiving her or anything he just didn't see the sense in pushing the argument in a place where neither of them could do anything about it. So he'd buy her coffee, they'd talk. It didn't mean they had to be friends. "But y'know what, I think you'll do okay here. You adapt well so that'll come in handy won't it?" He was really trying to be as nice as he could to her much as he didn't know how he was managing it. Florence knew him and with that came the knowledge of how hard it would be for him to just let go what had happened. They could have been something amazing if she hadn't have walked away.
The coffees and cookie arrived, the barrista looking at them curiously but serving them nonetheless, Freddie paid quickly and walked down to two, suprisingly empty seats in the corner of the cafe. Now though, what was he supposed to do now, sitting there with her was more than a little confusing and he didn't have the comfort of explainations. He'd drink the coffee quick and they could go back to the complex. It would be less awkward. Why he'd thought this would be a good idea he didn't know.
"Mostly its finding somewhere you fit. I mean I'm no fighter, not like some of the people here. I wound up doing supplies mostly, I have memories from a future none of us ever want to live and I guess it puts things in perspective. If that makes any kind of sense. You'll wind up figuring it out after you've been here a while but it changes you. Not saying I'm a saint now but you find a lot out about yourself when there's just you and the worry that you might now make it through the night."
He sipped at the coffee watching Florence curiously. He expected she didn't much want to hear things like this but thats the world she was in. She needed to learn about all this stuff, thats why they were out for coffee after all wasn't it? But he remembered how freaked out he'd been. "You okay?" he asked, offering her some of the cookie.
