She knew he hadn't meant it, at least not how it had sounded. She really hadn't meant to snap either, but it was snap like she had or just not respond.
Which was why she was now seated in a tree, her fingers trailing the water below. She didn't mind lounging like a big cat, after all, she had just eaten, the remains of the camp fire on the shore about thirty feet from where she was lounging. The coals were cooling, the remains of the two fish she had caught and cooked had been burned, and scattered on the water. It was something she normally didn't do, but for some reason it had felt right.
Letting her eyes drift closed she listened to the birds around her and the brook below, her fingers trailing the water in sleepy circles.
"I'll head back to Lawrence tomorrow, speak to him face to face." She didn't expect an answer, she just needed to hear words being spoken.
