Elphaba isn't the wicked witch you're looking for ([info]tothewesternsky) wrote in [info]wariscoming,

Entry tags:elphaba, fiyero

Who: Fiyero and Elphaba
What: Meeting face-to-face again. What could possibly happen?
When: Today. Because Elphie is fearful of what she might find.
Where: Her house
Warnings: Possibly swearing, definitely flailing and wtfing. Everything else is TBA.

Elphaba hadn't really slept much the previous night ever since her comment exchange with Elena. She knew she should go check the house, but she was scared of what she might find there. If Fiyero was here, that meant she'd have to face the rest of what happened in Oz, what happened between them, and somehow explain to him that she'd been here for several months. Of course, part of her hoped it was an earlier version of Fiyero, one that she wouldn't have to be weird and awkward around. But knowing her luck, Fiyero would be from her time because that's how the seals in this world seemed to work. Finally gathering up enough courage, she left her room and went down to the second floor. Methodically, she checked all the rooms, even Galinda's, but found them to be empty.

She was moving slowly, listening to see if she could hear anyone or anything. Elphaba had gotten good at listening to various sounds when she'd been on the run in Oz. The slightest change in a bird's call could alert her to approaching danger or someone else's presence. Why she was so afraid to go downstairs, it was hard to say. There was a lot in Oz she didn't want to face again, and likewise there was a lot she'd gone through here that she didn't want to go through again. She knew she'd have to explain to Fiyero what she'd gone through here, and half of it she didn't want to touch on. They were still sore spots for her, but he deserved to know. It was the least she owed him.

Finally, she moved down to the main level of the house and glanced around. She moved towards the kitchen, figuring she could pretend to be getting something to eat or drink instead of methodically looking for someone. Unconsciously, she grabbed the loose ends of her dark hair and started twisting them through her fingers, something she did when she was uncomfortable or on edge. Maybe this was nothing. Maybe Galinda just had a nightmare. She went around the corner of the dining room and stepped into the kitchen, taking a deep breath. By this point, she was lost in her thoughts and not really paying attention to where she was going. She was just starting to get over an emotional stress, she didn't know if she could handle Fiyero being here. It was hard enough for her to deal with her emotions, and she'd all ready had a breakdown, in front of Galinda, she wasn't sure she could take much else right now. But that's how this place seemed to operate. It dealt blow after blow without much time to recover in between.

To be honest, Fiyero was really starting to like this place if only for it's food. There were so many delicious things that he'd never heard of or tasted until he arrived here. Eating all the food in the house was an amazing distraction too. Fiyero still felt guilty about the exchange he'd had with Galinda and he was still unsure about Elphaba, who he had yet to see, and if this was okay...if she was okay. Part of him sincerely hoped she was from around his time for many different reasons.

He pondered all this as he leaned back in his chair at the kitchen table and kicked his feet up. He studied the pastery in his hand, it was thin with frosting on the top and some sort of fruity filling. It was unlike any thing he'd had before. These delicious little morsels known as Pop-tarts were quickly becoming his favorite food. Fiyero lamented his feelings for the breakfast item after he took a bite out of his fifth one. "Where have you been all my life!"

Needless to say he looked very Fiyero-esque the moment Elphaba had walked in. His eyes were closed, he had this doofy grin of his face as he began to munch on his sixth one, casual as always. He sensed someones eyes lying upon him, causing him to sadly have to leave his relaxed state. Fiyero opened his eyes and when he saw the green woman who'd stolen his heart he popped his chair forward so the front legs were back on the ground. "Hey..." He said with this sly little twinkle in his eyes, his tone casual, like this was totally normal.

The figure at the table caught her attention and she stopped dead in her tracks. She looked up at him and for the first few moments, she thought she was dreaming. But she couldn't be dreaming, her dreams were never like this. She could stare at him in shock as he talked to his breakfast. Underneath the shock, she wasn't surprised to see he'd all ready made himself at home. And talking to food.

Inwardly, she sort of felt like running out the door. That was a natural reaction, wasn't it? She'd believed, until very recently, that he'd been dead, so this was a very natural reaction. Her brown eyes were wide as she stared at him, unsure whether to step forward or backward. She stopped toying with the ends of her hair and forced herself to take a breath. Fiyero was here. He was alive.

Great, now she had to explain everything. Again. As much as she wished this was a past version of Fiyero, she also hoped it was the one from her time. If only to avoid telling him everything that happened in Oz, like she'd told Galinda. It had been the most difficult conversation she'd ever had, and she'd really rather not tell that story again. And then there was his simple greeting with that twinkle in his eyes. Oh Oz, this was going to be difficult.

"Hi..." Well, this wasn't awkward on her part. "This may be a really strange question, but what's the last thing you remember in Oz?" Because knowing that would at least help her know where she had to start with the explaining.

He furrowed his brow in thought, sitting up straighter as his smile dimensioned a bit as the images came back to him. Flooding in like a dam that had been broken. "Well...The Gale Force was trying to beat your location out of me, I didn't give it to them of course. I'm glad to see you got away unscathed?"

Fiyero honestly had no idea why he said that as question, mentally he knew that if she was here alive, then he had done something right there, emotionally though, he needed some sort of confirmation. He was shocked he himself had survived all that happen but seeing that Elphaba really was safe as well, that was unreal, not shocking but unreal.

When he mentioned the beating, Elphie lowered her head, closing her eyes tightly. It hurt to hear what he'd been put through when she'd tried to save him. And all she believed she'd succeeded in doing was lose herself. Truth be told, she had snapped in that castle. She'd given in to being the wicked witch when she believed she'd failed him. Even with him right there in front of her, she still believed she'd failed him. "I'm sorry, I tried to save you..."

After a few moments, she dared look back up at him, guilt weighing heavily on her. "Unscathed? Physically yes, but not emotionally." She'd come out of that as the wicked witch, something she still fought with herself over. There was darkness in her, and sometimes she gave in too easily to it. "Well, at least you're here and safe from the Gale Force." Oh this was an emotional overload. If there was ever a test to see how much Elphaba could handle, it was right then and there. Still she stood there just inside the kitchen door, unmoving. The fact she hadn't yet run away was a good sign, though she was still toying with the idea.

Fiyero's face softened as his eyes lovingly gazed at her. "Elphaba, you did save....you saved me from living my whole life as a lie." He was thankful though. The realization that there was no gale force or wizard here finally sunk in. They were safe. No more hiding. No more fear.

"You have no idea how happy I am that I was brought here to you. I mean now you and I...we can truly be together with no worry." He'd assumed that it would be just like that, they'd continue where they left off no problem. So clearly there was no more to be said right? Just continue life as normal.

Fiyero brought his attention back to his food. Taking another bite, savoring it as he hummed slightly in enjoyment. "Elphaba, have you ever had these before....they are the most amazing thing I've personally ever tasted." He was still completely shocked by the first of, what would most likely be, many food discoveries he'd make in Lawrence.

That look he gave her tugged at her. She did still care for him, but she had moved on. In the months she'd been there, she'd grieved, mostly silently, accepted that he was gone and moved on. Though the moving on part did provide set backs for her at times, such as when Jack suddenly left. It seemed that just when she'd started opening up to people, they'd leave. Jack did it, and more recently Bonnie. "Did I?" She couldn't help but feel she hadn't really saved him. She knew what happened in Oz in the end, and she couldn't really see how life as a scarecrow would be a good one.

And there it was, one of the things she feared. He thought they could just pick up where they'd left off. "Fiyero, we can't just pick up where we left off in Oz. I've been in this place for several months, and when I first arrived, I'd believed you were dead." Oh she hated this, she really did, but she had to say it. "Fiyero, I'm not the same woman you remember, that you just saw. I'm so different." She didn't exactly want to say how she'd given up and given in to the persona all of Oz called her. Least of all the things she'd been through since she'd been there.

"Yes, I've had one before. There are better things, though." Elphaba couldn't help but roll her eyes a bit at the way Fiyero talked about the pop tart. Of course he'd latch onto food like that, especially now.

Fiyero gave his head a sincere nod. "Yes you did. You made me realize that I didn't have to be this giant asshole who only cared about sex and partying, you made me feel okay to be me. You saved me from letting my soul die from being wrapped up in a lie."

He sighed. "Elphaba, that does not mean we can't be together. If I must, I will go back to step one with you, start over fresh, learn about the woman you've become. Oz, knows I love the woman you were and will now love the woman you are." Fiyero had truly given his heart to her that one night, and he would refuse to take it back. If he must fight for her, then he'll put up his fists. If he must relearn everything, then he'll be taught. At this point, after all he'd been through, he would do anything to have this.

"There are things better than this? Clearly, this place is trying to fatten me up. Just wait I'll be the size of a house in a few weeks time."

"Well, I'm glad that I did that. No one should go through life unhappy." Elphaba should've really taken her own advice there, but she still wasn't in a position to be sure of herself to try and get what would make her happy.

"No, you don't understand. In Oz when I thought you were dead, I lost it. I gave in to being the wicked witch. Even now I'm still struggling with it." She lowered her head, remembering the things she'd done in this world. "I killed someone, Fiyero. In cold blood. I did it right in front of Galinda. I'm pretty sure that makes a difference." The killing had been justified, the evil witch had kidnapped and tortured Bonnie and hurt Galinda, but the thing that still bothered Elphaba was how much she'd enjoyed killing the woman.

"If you get that fat, you're getting a house of your own." Elphaba shook her head a bit. She crossed over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water, opening it and taking a drink, then she turned back to Fiyero. "There's a lot you don't know, and there's a lot I've been through here."
