When cast into an entirely different environment, no matter what the circumstance, it was completely in the Doctor's nature to cross examine just about everything - even things that seemed perfectly normal. He gathered in the state of most of the people walking about (some calm, others in a typical afternoon hurry, all in all fairly normal all around), took in the condition of the weather (slightly sunny, mild winds), and glanced at every building surrounding the TARDIS (all looking perfectly normal, though a few were a bit worse for wear - something that appeared to be noted upon by the city, as there were a few construction workers gathering at the end of the road with some equipment suitable for outdoor building repairs). Immediately, the Doctor realised that whatever it was that had drawn the TARDIS into this area must have been something that was hidden. Something so far out of range that he'd have to do more than just look to find it. Tapping at the side of his mouth thoughtfully, the Doctor turned on the spot quickly, the action causing him to turn square into the path of a younger looking man who had - at the time - appeared to be quite distracted with the act of examining a fuzzy looking object in his hands.
That didn't go so well. The two ran smack into one another, causing the Doctor to stumble back into the TARDIS a bit. Not enough to knock him over, no, but it was certainly enough damage for the boy who had hit him to take it on with worry.
And then he complimented his tie. And any and all badness that may or may not have existed as a result of the run-in (badness that didn't exist, as the Doctor really wasn't all that bothered at all) went completely out the window. Especially as soon as the Doctor realised that the boy, too, was wearing a bowtie himself.
"Thank you," the Doctor said quite smugly, reaching up to straighten his bowtie at that. "And you! Look at your bowtie. I like it. It's very cool."
