He shouldn't have been here, taunting Lucifer's vessel. Heck, Gabriel shouldn't have even been in Lawrence right now. But things had gone to his head. A lot of things, really, like people telling him he was being a coward for not playing some sort of part in the fight against Lucifer. Like he owed humanity anything. Like he wanted to die out with the rest of the human race, just because he decided to try and play hero and, in the process, got in Lucifer's way. If there was anything in the world that he didn't want to do, it was piss Lucifer off. No, in fact, if anything, Gabe just wanted to get out of the way. But he couldn't even do that.
This had to end. He had to make them see that the only thing that they could do was play the roles that they were given. That was why he was here now. It was going to take some time to plan everything out accordingly, but once he managed, he would make everyone see. They had to give in. It was the only way to end everything as quickly as possible. Of course, even with all that planning to get their attention going on, Gabriel didn't actually want to get their attentions just yet. Even so, he couldn't resist screwing with Sammy here. There had always been something about the younger Winchester that had intrigued him. Probably that bitchy little look he got on his face when things got under his skin.
Kinda like the look he had on his face now. Gabe expected him to bark out some kind of irritated response. Maybe he'd roll his eyes and tell him he was going to get him one day. He was going to avenge his brother! Get the Trickster back for all the terrible things that he had done! Kill Gabriel off, for the sake of humanity and puppies and...hey, wait. Sam wasn't doing any of those things. Well, okay, he was making the face, but he wasn't yelling or screaming or doing anything like that. No, he was getting down and reaching for something. Aha? Did he have a stake after all? Had he expected them to meet here? Was he, in fact, far more clever than Gabriel had given him credit for? The archangel couldn't help but lean forward in interest, brows rising in eager anticipation that sky-rocketed to a place of absolute shock when the side of his face was introduced to a particularly large rock that Sam had scooped up from the ground and hurled at his face.
Gabriel didn't even react right away. Sam had found the time to pick up another, rear his arm back, and shout something about the Trickster being the biggest pain in his ass, and Gabriel still couldn't bring himself to do anything. In all his years of harassing people, this was, surprisingly, the first time anyone had ever dared throw a rock at him. It was hilarious, but then...kind of rude. Which made Gabriel contemplate dropping Lucifer's vessel someplace unfortunate, like into a circle of starving sharks, as Sam chucked another rock at his shoulder.
