Who? Jaina, Sam, and Gabriel What? Throwing rocks at an Archangel, because he is kind of a jerk. Where? Somewhere random in Lawrence where there are rocks. When? Earlier tonight, before the Winchester Gathering/Dinner Rating? Probably not too high, but there is rockthrowing. And Gabriel. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DUNDUNDUN.
Jaina was worried - Allana had been hurt today. Sure, she said it wasn’t too bad, and she was healing, but that wasn’t the point. The point was, someone out there apparently wanted to hurt her family, and they were keeping quiet about it - which ruled out Alema, apparently, since even just the short time she’d known this crazier future version of her friend, she knew Alema really was all about the bragging and taunting; she’d proven as much just the other day.
So this was someone else, someone who was watching them and following them and now had moved on to outright attacking them, and Jaina knew she wasn’t the only one who was more than fed up with the whole thing. She could feel Jacen at the edge of her mind, she always could, but he was more intense than usual - and with good reason. Allana had been lucky, but that didn’t mean she would be next time. Or that any of them would be, next time.
Jaina was sure her brother’s thoughts mirrored her own: they wouldn’t let there be a next time, if they could help it.
The problem was, they sort of couldn’t. With no idea who was behind it, there was no real way to stop it from happening again. Jaina, at least, had been having absolutely no luck with meditation or visions, lately - hadn’t seen anything about the future since she got here (aside from that trip there, where she’d ended up being insane and dark in an insane and dark future world), and the last month or so even meditation had been difficult. She had a hard time focusing - and it felt weird to be teaching others to meditate, clear their minds, when her own mind was a mess, and her own meditation was being neglected.
The closest thing she had to proper meditation anymore was when she was out on walks at night, too many thoughts in her head to sleep, too restless to sit still. It was a little easier to keep her mind off of the attacks, the whole creepy thing with the mirrors in her apartment, Gabriel, Lucifer and the apocalypse... everything, when she was moving, doing something, even if that ‘something’ was just wandering aimlessly around Lawrence.
Now, though, she wasn’t wandering aimlessly - she was heading over to Jacen and Tenel Ka’s apartment, and she would make sure Allana was okay, make sure Jacen didn’t freak out, and then see how it went from there...
She paused, head tilting slightly to one side, listening. She was pretty sure she’d heard someone shouting... yeah, definitely someone shouting. It didn’t really sound like just normal neighborhood background noise, either - although it didn’t sound like panicked screams, either, so that was something, at least. Still, it was worth checking out, probably. Jaina turned up the next street, detouring away from the direction she’d been headed in to try and find the source of the shouts.
