Family tree. From a historical perspective, the process of tracing back one's family was an exciting venue to explore. Clark could recall being excited enough about exploring the Kent family tree as a child, though he had known very little about his own personal lineage back then. It was easier, being able to rely on the two people who had taken him under their wing to explain every little thing along the way. He had a family. Maybe not by blood, but through heart. Clark had been lucky. Clark didn't know if he could really say the same for Kon. Mostly, he knew the facts: Kon was carrying his DNA, tied along with the huge financial success Lex Luthor who, according to every media source Clark could get his hands on, was actually a pretty terrible person. Outside of that, Clark only knew what he had gathered from personal experiences with Kon. He was a bright kid and he seemed capable of keeping his abilities in check, so Clark didn't necessarily see him as much of a personal threat.
All in all, he seemed like a good person. Clark had been avoiding getting to know him because of how uncertain, confused, and uncomfortable being around him made him, but Clark was ready to try and push past that. If that meant he had to start here, by helping Kon get back on the right track with school, then Clark was okay with that.
"You can't tell them you're a clone," Clark stated, though they both already knew that. He loosened his arms from his chest, leaning into a more neutral stance. "So tell them something else." Technically, what he was about to tell him to use wasn't a lie. It wasn't whole detail either, but they didn't need to know every little thing about Kon's birth process, did they? "If you want to do this project, you can use my family tree." Obviously, judging from the look on Kon's face, it was a lot more complicated than that. But at least he had something to lean on if he wanted to get the grade in.
After a small moment, Clark genuinely added, "And you're not a freak."
