WHO: Melinda Halliwell and Adam Milligan.
WHEN: Backdated to 3/23.
WHERE: Multiple places!
WHAT: Their first date; Adam is taking Melinda to dinner.
STATUS: Incomplete
WARNINGS: Shouldn't be any? Maybe PG-13 rating for words.

Melinda and Adam hadn't really started out with any intention to see one another. In fact, the opposite could have been true. His family thought it was really bizarre that she looked like Ruby. It could have easily been argued that Mel's face was the original one, but Ruby had been here first. Melinda digressed. She had dealt with the massive amount of people that had called her things like 'Ruby-twin' or 'Ruby-faced'. Sure, it was a little annoying, but she understood. People knew Ruby and the fact that they looked alike meant that they were going to be compared or whatever. Melinda could deal with that even if it was a little annoying. She just kept telling herself there were differences, and there were differences between them. Obviously Adam saw the differences because he was attracted to her (and as far as Mel could tell--not Ruby).

The night that they had both ended up drunk they had ended up being a little drunk and stupid. When Mel got up and left his place the next morning she had scrambled out so quickly (and awkwardly) that she'd forgotten her shoe. Rather than talk about it, the two of them had just not talked about it. Of course it had to happen again. The second time they weren't drunk, though. They were only a bit tipsy. And, well, the second time had just been making out, to be fair. It still happened. It still let Mel know that they needed to talk. She was still embarrassed about how awkward she'd been, but talking had gotten results. They were seeing one another now, afterall. Adam was going to take Mel out to dinner for a first date. Damn first dates kind of sucked, though. They always ended up awkward. Maybe this one would go differently.

Mel couldn't help but be more than a little bit amused by the fact that she hadn't even been here in Lawrence that long and she was already going on a date. Her brothers would have made some comments about this fact if they were around. She was glad they weren't here. It was weird enough having her parents be from such strange times. Neither of them were the people she remembered, they were different. They were still Mom and Dad, though. Lawrence was pretty bad at times, but there seemed to be some consolations for being stuck in the middle of this war. Having the two familiar faces definitely helped her. Hitting it off with Adam had helped too, actually. She definitely saw that they could be friends. The fact that they were attracted to one another was just stemming from the fact that they had become fast friends. They clicked for some reason. Even if Sam had passionately said no things had happened instead. His family didn't matter as much as what he wanted as far as Mel was concerned. Then again Melinda had been the one that had dated a damn demon. This was different, though. Sure, Adam wasn't perfect, but...who the hell was?

Now, the young witch wasn't the kind that took hours to get dressed and ready. So, rather than agonizing over everything, she simply put on a pair of nice jeans and a cute black top. After that it was a pair of boots, a necklace, and then make up and hair were the rest. Mel pulled her hair back (leaving a bit of a bang going on) some and even made her face up a bit. It didn't take her that long at all. She tucked her wallet, cell, and keys into her pockets and then it was just chilling until Adam came by and let her know that he was ready to go for dinner. Maybe she was getting a little nervous...but not too much, it was all good...

Yeah right.

Okay, so maybe Adam was a bit nervous--not that he'd admit it easily. But hey, he had good reason to be, didn't he? Hell, Adam had good reasons. Plural.

First dates always sucked, everyone knew that. Maybe they would be better when they were with someone you already knew pretty well, but there was still a good chance of suckage due to awkward. And this one had the added bonus of being with someone that Adam liked but his family would flail their arms right off if they found out he was seeing her. After all, Mel looked like Ruby. Adam could admit that. Mostly due to the fact that was no real way he could deny it without just looking like a Grade A Moron, but there it was. She looked like his demon-in-law, but that didn't mean she was Ruby.

Mel was very much her own person, too. Sure, she and the demon had a few similarities in the personality district, but they were just that. Similarities. Adam had similarities with all sorts of people, including his brothers, but that didn't make him exactly like them, did it? While Adam had noticed the similarities, they weren't what made Adam like her. She had her share of differences with Ruby, too. Like, for example, the fact that she wasn't a demon. Nothing against Ruby, but Adam saw that as a mark in Mel's favor.

So, after a supremely awkward discussion on the boards, Mel and Adam had decided to start seeing each other, starting with the dreaded first date. Even though they'd already skipped that stage that first night they drank together.

Adam made his way to Mel's apartment. He wasn't dressed fancy or anything--he was pretty sure he didn't own anything fancy anyway--but he tried to make himself look nice none the less. Instead of his usual wearing-out jeans, a tee-shirt (usually with something printed on the front, and a hoodie (with optional additional jacket on top of said hoodie) he opted for newer jeans, a blank tee-shirt, a plaid button down with a couple of the top buttons still open, and just the jacket. He paused for a moment outside the door before lifting his hand to knock and wait for Mel to answer.

Melinda was sitting on her sofa at the moment. Her nervous energy was coming out through her foot, shaking it at a rapid rate. Parter of her was hoping that the fact that they'd started out by way of skipping a few steps would work in their favor, but you could never tell, really. Maybe this whole thing would be awkward as hell. Maybe it'd go perfectly fine.

Mel had just started to relax a little, her body relaxing and not as tense as before. That was until she heard the sound of of knocking at her door. She knew it had to be Adam. It wasn't like any of her family had a specific reason to be coming around to visit her around the time time that Adam was coming by. It only took a second for the young Halliwell woman to stand up. Then she had to pause, sucking in a breath and then letting it out. It'd be fine! It only took seven steps to make it to the door. There was no use in hesitating now. She didn't even think as she opened the door.

A smile crossed Mel's face seeing Adam standing there. He looked nice. Then again, she was attracted to him, so at this point unless he pulled a kilt or something out she'd probably continue to think he looked good. "Hey, Dimple, you clean up pretty well." Melinda winked as she grabbed her jacket, slipping it on smoothly. She was really hoping that the nervousness didn't show. She was hiding it pretty well, right? She liked to hope that she was either way. Hopefully things would stray away from awkward today. Mel was pretty sure they could manage that. Other than the awkwardness on the boards they had done pretty well on that front.

"I'm good to go." Mel told Adam, reaching to lock her door before pausing too look up at him, "You good too?"
