Kaylee was a glass-half-full kind of person most of the time and she adjusted quickly to change, but this predicament was proving tough to adjust to. It sure was odd finding herself stuck on a planet that, in her time, was just a lifeless rock drained of resources. At present it was bustling and full of life, though not as advanced as the planets Kaylee had been used to. The people were nice enough, though. Giving her a place to stay in free of charge? It wasn’t Serenity, but she’d take it.
With the money she’d been given to start out with, Kaylee had purchased some inexpensive vials of paint fully intending on doodling little flowers to make this home feel like a real home. Bit by bit she believed she could turn her apartment into a cozy little haven.
Bounding down the staircase, Kaylee was headed to the kitchen to get something to snack on. The place always seemed to be stocked with edibles for all. When she got to the bottom of the stairs, though, she let out a startled gasp. There was Simon, looking pensive and busy like he sometimes got. Kaylee could feel a giddy little grin spreading across her face and she couldn’t stifle a tiny squeal.
“Simon!” She took quick little steps over to him. “Oh!” As automatically as a reflex, Kaylee flung her arms around his middle and gave him a hug. “You’re here!”
