Bones was comforting to Booth. To some she might be unnerving with her scientific facts, but the way she responded to him, it just made him feel better. He couldn't put it into words how glad he was that she had started to seriously pick up on social cues. He remembered when they first started as partners, and he had to explain everything to her. He remembered how grumpy it made him, and how tense things were when it came to certain topics. Now they could talk about anything, he loved that.
He just watched her speak, feeling suddenly sentimental. But he said nothing in return, what he was feeling was obvious in the way he smiled at her. Finally they reached the diner. He glad to have something that reminded him of home. The bells on the door chimed to announce their arrival.
"Apple pie and a coffee. " He'd been to the diner they chose several times, but still no one had memorized is order..it was a constant reminder of how they weren't back home. Stil he was glad to be there with Bones, and feeling better already.
"This place has the best apple pie I've found so far. And it comes with ice cream. The other joint two blocks down doesn't give you ice cream. Cheapskates."
