And so began the lesson on pies. Brennan knew better than to argue, after all, Booth would continue to talk about pies and she would continue to roll her eyes. She just didn't like pie. And Sweets' assertion that it was a seduction game for Booth was completely unfounded. Booth just really liked pie and wanted Brennan to as well. There was no seduction involved. Of course that particular conversation happened right before they found out about Zach and so the anthropologist pushed it to the side. Zach had hurt her. Had hurt all of them. Yet he was still the best intern she ever had and he was why she refused to get close to any of her new ones. So they couldn't hurt her.
"I still don't like pie."
And then Booth was mentioning Parker and the mood changed. Sighing, Brennan squeezed Booth's hand. She knew that Parker missed his mom. He had told her, had been afraid of how his dad would respond, but she doubted mentioning that would do any good.
"You know I don't believe in feelings like that.... there's no proof. Yes, the Seal pulls people at random, but that doesn't mean you'll end up alone here." Brennan was determined to figure out the scientific way the Seal worked. If she could do that, maybe she could get them all sent home. It was the plan at least. Probably one of the more stupid plans she'd had, but it seemed like a good idea. After the power swap, she wanted to see if there were a way to alert them to things. Like when people would come and go. It would be helpful.
