A creepy murder house full of ghosts. Yeah. That was definitely them, all right. Even when Sam and Ruby aspired to be normal, they somehow managed to be abnormal. Such was the way of their very, very strange life. "If there was any house in the world that you and I should get our hands on, it's this one," Sam agreed with a grin. "Better us than anyone else, anyway. At least we can take care of ourselves here." Once they got rid of the ghosts, they'd have nothing to worry about other than the occasional demon attack, angel intrusion, or Lucifer. Ghosts at their doorstep were practically nothing in comparison. "Oh, yeah. You're not the mentally scarring type at all, are you?" Sam teased, lightly elbowing Ruby as they walked. "It's not like you go out of your way to inflict 'horrifying' images of us having sex on my brother or openly talk about ritual sacrifice like it's the thing to do or anything. Because, you know, that sort of behavior would be considered the type of thing to mentally scar a person. But you would never do anything like that, now would you?"
Would you massacre for me? Sam furrowed his brow and shot Ruby a bewildered sort of look at that. Ruby had been right about one thing: he didn't think that it was in good taste, considering where they were. But this was really no different than Dean cracking some kind of inappropriate joke while they were dealing with corpses or something. A little more complex, sure, but Sam was able to look past that, considering that it was Ruby he was dealing with right now rather than someone else. She kind of had a morbid sense of humor anyway. Then again, he kind of did too. Shaking the confused look away, Sam replied, "Think about how far I went to get Lilith back for what she did to Dean." He looked serious for a moment, almost as though he were actually considering the lengths that he would go to in Ruby's name - to the end of the world and back and he'd take down anyone who got in his way if he had to - then Sam tried for a faint smile. Right. They were kidding around, of course.
"It's supposed to be somewhere toward the back end of the property," Sam explained, "other than that, I honestly have no idea where to begin looking. There are a few trees set back that way from what I can tell and, I mean, there's a lot of tree to be searching in general, judging from the size of them. We might have to come back a few times before we actually find what we're looking for." Sometimes it got tricky that way, when you were dealing with a ghost. Nothing was certain and sometimes finding body parts was next to impossible. That didn't mean that they couldn't try. "We'll figure things out," Sam promised, stepping up onto the porch. "Don't worry. We'll get you your house." A reassuring smile was quick to follow his words. With everything going on in Lawrence right now, Sam needed to make sure that Ruby stayed okay. It wasn't just the vampire thing. Lucifer getting inside her head? It had to be a hard thing to deal with. The conversation that they'd had when she had gone off drinking the other night had left Sam feeling a little more than uneasy, but he hadn't really brought it up for the sake of sparing Ruby more worry. She didn't need to be more upset than Lucifer had left her. She didn't deserve to be.
