Now she knew how it felt. If she was honest with herself she wanted more, but she wasn’t in need of it and she wasn’t going to do that to him. She loved him and she knew how much it hurt when too much was taken, and for all Sam was he was human. He was an amazing human and sure right now he was her Fairy King but he couldn’t sustain what she needed. She’d have to find another way, she couldn’t keep doing this, she just couldn’t. She wasn’t gonna hurt him and she wasn’t gonna loose it and hurt someone because Sam would never let her do that. He loved her. He loved her so much and that's why it would be okay. He’d make sure it was okay. But there was also the fact that if she could use her status as a vamp freak to good use and get them this place for next to nothing.
As they walked toward the house she couldn’t help but grin at just how smug he looked. He was entirely proud of himself for being a good enough Hunter to fix this place up and then it would be theirs. No...No she was wrong, he was proud of them. Both of them. They really did make a good team. “Oh I know I can get this place cheap.” She told him amused, I’m getting the basics of the compelling thingy and we’ll have ended the haunting. It’ll be amazing. And in what way would I mentally scar anyone! I’ll be very safe and he’ll walk away with more than he deserves for selling this place to so many people over the last few years.
The case itself was pretty damn fascinating. The tree, she wasn’t even sure how that had factored in to the whole thing but it had all been over love. “Would you massacre for me?” she started to joke before realising that (a) it wasn’t funny and (b) she wasn’t one to talk about massacres. Also (c) he’d probably think it was disrespectful. “Is there a way to figure out what tree it is out of all of them. There’s not a small number of trees?” she worried, she really didn’t want to burn the trees, they were really nice trees and planting new ones would take longer than she wanted to wait. So that meant they needed to find the ones he’d killed. Maybe Hayes himself. He might still be around here and he might be the ghost, or the couple he killed. There were always a lot of options when it came to stuff like this. As it came to it, they were probably just going to burn everything. Ruby knew the significance of bones to ghosts, there were rumours it was the same for demons but she didn’t believe it. She wouldn’t even know where to begin looking for her human remains. Probably in some plague pit somewhere never to be found.
“We can do this right? Make this place ready to live in and it’ll be ours.” she asked. It was a beautiful image, she loved this place, loved what it was going to fast become to them and loved that Sam had agreed so readily to move out of Lawrence City just because her heart had become so quickly set on this place. It was beautiful. More than she’d ever expected and as she walked alongside her husband to the intimidating front door of the place Ruby smiled. They’d do okay. She pushed open the door just in time for it to be slammed back in her face again. Rude. “Yeah we’re not leaving. Now stop being pissy and let us in.” she insisted, pushing at the door with strength she was dealing pretty well with having and speeding inside the door opening it to admit Sam. And ducking as a vase flew toward her head.
