After the hit and run and losing consciousness, Booth had been sedated and slept through the night. He hadn't regained consciousness since he first went down. It was nearing late afternoon the next day. Doctors had been in and out checking his vitals and asking Bones medical history questions since she'd arrived early in the morning. Existing brain trauma had the doctors skeptical that Booth was going to escape from the accident side effect free. He'd struck his head against the concrete. Doctors were doing what they could, but until Booth woke there was no way of knowing that he was going to have a clean bill of health.
Hours passed and there was zero movement from the broken figure in the sterile bed. His head had been cleaned up and wrapped in gauze, but he showed no signs of change. Doctors decided it was necessary to lighten the dosage of pain medication the federal Agent was hooked up to, and finally he shifted slightly. "Turn off the lights, Parker.." He mumbled, obviously disoriented and confused. He had no idea where he was. It was extremely uncomfortable wherever it was though. His voice was barely audible and rough from breathing tubes having been down his throat earlier in the morning.
The beeping beside him was obnoxious. It sounded like alarms on his alarm clock, so he tried to reach over and hit the snooze button. It didn't work. His movement was interrupted by a nurse who was standing beside him and checking his vitals again. "Just relax Mr. Booth. You're in good hands now." Booth couldn't register who was talking to him. Everything was out of place. Finally he opened his dark eyes and immediately regretted it. The room was blinding! He swore under his breath and the nurse frowned. "You've been in a car accident. There's going to be some sensitivity issues." And Seeley cracked a cranky eye. "Tell me something I don't know." The nurse wasn't phased, a grumpy victim wasn't the worst thing she'd dealt with that afternoon.
Finally the woan left and shut down the room light after she was comfortable with Booth's stability. Seeley was in pain.
