"Yes, I do." Elphie was going to continue with that, but she saw the way Galinda yawned and decided it was best to save that for when the blonde was more awake. She could tell that Galinda hadn't slept much, or at all, lately, so she would do what she could to help her friend sleep. After all, going on at this rate, Galinda would make herself sick.
"You think so?" Elphie murmured in response. Holding Galinda close, she reached up and pulled her blanket down from her bed and wrapped it around them. She had thought about moving them to her bed, but she was quite comfortable right where they were.
She couldn't help but smile gently and laugh softly. "Thank you," she replied. She watched over Galinda as she fell asleep. Once the blonde witch was asleep, Elphie pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head. "I will always watch over you," she whispered softly. Shifting so slightly, she managed to grab a pillow off her bed and slid it under her head. She kept Galinda's head on her shoulder. Like that they stayed for a few hours, Elphie lying awake, drifting through her thoughts.
The way she felt was starting to dawn on her. The way she wanted to make Galinda, see her smile, always be near her. But most of all, the way her heart fluttered when the blonde would look at her. She was falling for Galinda, and she couldn't help but feel so afraid. The last two times she'd tried love had ended up in catastrophe. Fiyero had died and Jack had gone back home just when she'd finally grown comfortable around him. What would happen this time? How would she even tell Galinda? Elphie really didn't know where to go from here, but perhaps she'd just take things one day at a time. Eventually, she drifted into sleep, holding Galinda close to her as they both slept.
