Seeing the tears in Galinda's eyes was a bit shocking. Even back home in Oz, she had rarely seen Galinda cry, or really be much else than bubbly. At least during their time at Shiz. Everything that came after she'd left and defied the Wizard was a different story. They both had become different people then.
But when Galinda started crying and latched onto her, Elphie couldn't help but feel a very strong need to make the blonde feel better. She always hated it when Galinda got upset, and true she didn't know exactly how to handle it at first, but that was before she'd learned how to really interact with people on a physical and emotional level. She wrapped her arms around the smaller witch, holding her so close and tight against her, one hand moving to stroke Galinda's hair gently.
"What? Of course I need you, Galinda. I'll always need you. Without you, my life is so dark." Which was the truth. During the time that she'd worked to help the animals of Oz and fight against the wizard, she had been so terribly lonely and dark. She'd had no one to turn to when she needed them, so she'd started becoming cold. That was why she'd been able to turn her back on Nessa. She had finally seen that her sister would never appreciate anything she did, so she turned her back. "You are the light of my life, and I can't live without you."
