Turned out she wouldn't start Febuary off as Ruby Winchester, Azazel making his move when he had, had thrown things all over the place and people had been kidnapped for some new plan or other. Ruby wasn't looking forward to what they would have to do but she knew if she was ever going to have a life, ever going to be something better than she was now, then he needed to be gone. He needed to die. And the best way she knew to do that was the way it had worked last time. The gun that even now was in the hands of Crowley. He was willing to talk though, willing to make a trade and he was right, she hadn't been visiting in a while. Crowley of course was...complicated. Still very much a demon, still making no illusions of goodness, but he wanted Lucifer stopped as much as anyone, and stopping Azazel would put a definite dint in his plans. Also if nothing else Azazel was compitition and he wouldn't want that. Ruby had always admired the King of the Crossroads, Sure she'd very much been one of Azazel's as much as he'd been one of Lilith's but they were both demons who had pushed themselves higher than many of their kind had ever hoped to reach. And even if times had changed them she was pretty sure they were still something close to friends. She wanted him at her wedding after all.

And here they were now both on the same side, a side they never could have imagined. Ruby got to his house fairly easily,by now, knowing just where he'd set up shop,  a few demon presences, enough to let her know he had people on his side even now, it was possible his crossroads whores had stayed loyal, and then of course there was...yeah, she knew that presence alright. She found herself nearly bowled over by the huge hellhound he kept by his side much of the time. Ruby couldn't help but adore him. "Hey boy" she said, actually affectionate with the hellbeast, "Where's Daddy huh?" she asked, letting the hound lead her further down the drive. Most people, even most demons wouldn't feel safe here. But Ruby did. Which was probably a testement to their weirdness.

And she had a trade to make, she thought, with a sigh, hand going automaticly to the knife at her side, She wanted it back. It was her finest work. And it held some memories for her. But it wasn't nearly enough for Azazel. For him they needed the Colt and for that Crowley needed to be convinced.

"Hello?" she called, following Pup through the slightly ajar door.

You didn't go from being some no-name tailor with a deficiency in the trouser department to King of the Crossroads without an ambitious streak at least a mile wide and a serious talent for self preservation. The former made all the legwork bearable, the latter meant you were around to enjoy the fruits of those labours, and the two combined were why taking down Lucifer himself was the best idea Crowley had ever had and not tantamount to suicide. Getting rid of his number one rival in the demonic fraternity along the way was an unexpected bonus - Azazel had had it coming ever since trying to carve himself out a grubby, bloodstained corner of the deal-making market, because everyone knew that was Crowley's gig; it was just a shame he'd have to postpone dancing on the bastard's grave until after the trigger-happy hunters had left the building.

As for Ruby? Well, she was... intriguing. Always had been, even back when she was Azazel's number one posterchild. That she was now trying to go straight was... anyone else might have called it adorable. Crowley would probably have gone for nearer 'hillarious'. Still, good for her. If there was one thing he could appreciate, it was going after what you wanted and sod everything else.

Crowley didn't address Ruby right away, didn't even turn around from where he stood pouring himself a generous measure of Scotch, just shook his head at Pup. "You? Are the worst guard dog ever."

It was hard to say which was the stranger sound - a hellhound whining at being scolded, or the rhythmic thump of a mostly-invisible tail against the floorboards as its master reached down to scratch it behind the ears.
