This was by far not how Meg wanted to spend her time. Stuck in another of the godforsaken traps in a warehouse that was entirely too calm for her tastes. She never expected to be left there. She thought there was going to be a knife in her chest and someone was finally going to take action instead of threats.
So she’d made herself comfortable while she waited, sitting on the ground with her arms crossed. As soon as cavalry arrived it would be over. Either it would be for her, or them.
Once Ruby came in and started talking, Meg rolled her eyes towards the ceiling and got to her feet. Why even be civilized about it? There didn’t seem to be much of a point. “You’re serious? You came to talk?” She couldn’t stop the laughter that snuck out, making her sound along the lines of deranged. But the fact that the sins were gone wasn’t something to laugh about. Meg actually liked the turmoil it brought on. As soon as her laughter died, she raised a brow at Ruby. Not making any promises to listen, she said, “Then talk.”
