"Clearly," Martha agreed with a grin, definitely enjoying the compliments. Between hanging around with career military soldiers and then people like Sam Winchester who, while a nice guy, was way too tense, it really had been a while since she genuinely had fun with a guy. But she was finding that she really did like spending time with Eliot, with all his mysterious ways. With a laugh she wrinkled her nose in almost disgust. "Oh that's not just limited to the understanding, you should have heard my Dad's girlfriend. Love you baby, big kisses," she put on a mocking chav accent. "And honest to god, she called my Dad big boy. I never needed to hear that!"
She laughed again, trying to look sympathetic. "Aww, I promise if you ever needed it, I'd be nothing but gentle with you." Though a flash of curiosity entered her eyes. "So, you need patching up often or something?"
She couldn't deny that she was longing to get out of Laurence, even for a little while. Her med bay was set up and she was teaching those who were interested some first aid techniques. But staying in one place, that wasn't her. Even after traveling with the Doctor, she had been transferred wherever UNIT needed her, just a plane ride from her family. "As far as I know. I mean the Winchesters are heading out I think, so they must reckon those boards work anywhere with an internet connection. Thinking of getting out of here?"
Spontaneous had been right. And a lot of good had come out of being with the Doctor. "The Doctor blames himself for a lot," she admitted. "Probably more than he should. That's just the way he is though. In a way I was lucky, leaving was my choice. A lot of the people he travels with didn't get that chance. It's hard to give up, seeing the universe like that, most people can't do it and they end up hurt for it." Like Rose, trapped in another universe, or Donna with her memories erased to save her life, or Jack left unable to ever die. She'd been very lucky really.
