"You think I look cute?" Martha's smile took on a very teasing edge as she arched an eyebrow and sipped at her lemonade. "Women think entirely logically you know, it's the men who are strange for not understanding us." Ah, the age old argument, though Martha could state with some degree of certainty that Mars and Venus had nothing to do with it. Her smile softened slightly as she looked sympathetic. "Sorry. Sometimes fate can just be a bitch like that."
She managed to keep a straight face as she coolly put her glass back on the bar. "Smart man. You know I can make a fully trained soldier break into a cold sweat just by snapping on a pair of latex gloves and telling him it's exam time." Not that she would abuse her power. That much.
She actually felt oddly proud to get a real fact from the man who seemed to offer them out so rarely. "You ever miss the riding?" She asked, not able to resist the opportunity for possibly another fact.
She bit the side of her lip, trailing her finger through the condensation on her glass. "They were taken into custody," she said after a pause. "Interrogated, tortured, held for a year. Because the guy who did it wanted to get to the Doctor through me. It's a little hard to deny that it was my fault. When it was over I had to stay with them. Traveling time and space is all very well, but it also taught me that someone has to stay behind to clear up the mess. UNIT gives me that."
