Who: Elliot Hoo and Tina
What: Elliot's shoes have a mind of their own
When: Early Evening
Where: Complex Lobby
Warnings: None at the moment
Status: In Progress

Tina wasn't sure what to feel. She'd been cooping herself up in the music room ever since it had been constructed. Well, beyond when she had gone up to Quinn's room to drink wine. Now that had been unexpected, but it seemed that the once Queen Bee had mellowed out since giving birth (and keeping her daughter) as well as this world. It was the only logical explanation. War changed people. And Tina was afraid of that. She was afraid of everything she would face and the fact that she might not have MIke. Oh, he said they'd still be there for one another, but it would be different. They had crossed a line and now? Now she was afraid of losing him. But she couldn't hate him and she couldn't hate Kitty for it either. Mike just had that effect on people.

But for once, the lone female Asian wasn't in the music room. She was in the kitchen making herself some tea. With all of the singing she'd been doing, on top of crying, her throat needed some TLC. So it was tea with lemon and since she was in the kitchen, Tina made herself a sandwich. No matter how depressed she got, she wasn't going to forget to eat. She couldn't. She just couldn't let herself fall that far.

Finishing up with her impromptu dinner, Tina made her way to the lobby. She wasn't sure what she was doing there. Maybe she wanted to go out and explore? No, not really. She knew she was going to need to get used to the area but it would probably be best with someone with her so she didn't get lost and attacked. So no, she wasn't there to leave. Was it to people watch? Well, maybe... But it was certainly peculiar to people watch while standing in the middle of the lobby.

Tugging on her black lace skirt, the goth sighed and started towards a seat to sit and observe.

Confound it all, Elliot was happy. He was genuinely happy and he wasn't sure why. Sure, there was drama going on, but he'd spent some time to just relax. And to him, relaxing meant a good book, a cup of tea, and before that: dance.

Elliot had gone from the least rhythmic engineering student in the world to 'squad of superhero dancers' at a rate of... Well, however long it took for him to lace the damn pumas known as X7. Though for all the grief the shoes gave him, they also made him happy.

It was weird, thinking the only thing that made him happy in his life was scientifically engineered mumbo-jumbo the LXD had lost and somehow was compatible with Elliot and blahblahblah--there. That right there was what he was working on stopping. The rambling in his head.

The Academy was teaching him to just go with the ebb and flow and feelings of his shoes and that's what Elliot had done--after a few chapters he had set his book down, changed into a t-shirt and some track pants (which was rare for him but he didn't have his LXD gym uniform) and headed towards the gym.

Once he let his mind quieten, his feet could do what they want. And, even though he'd never admit it to anyone in Lawrence, Kansas, he had fun. The shoes took over and Elliot was dancing up a storm, letting his hands and feet go wherever they pleased. He didn't need music, he just needed a little trust and a lot of fun.

The fact that has shoes had decided to wander while dancing was not new to him, and at that moment he simply didn't care: there were only so many mopey diner get-togethers with Allana he could have before facing the fact that his Evil Twin would forever be mad at him and he had accidentally kissed his girlfriend. No, dammit, today was just him and X7 and who cared about anything else?

He danced on by a girl dressed in black, before either him or the X7s decided enough was enough. Elliot had a theory that whatever minute passing thought he had his shoes picked up on, but he didn't mind this time--he stopped in his tracks, extended a hand to the girl in the lobby, and offered a small smile.

His shoes, however, grew impatient--because with startled eyes Elliot wound up grabbing her hand, pulling her up, and placing his other hand around her waist.

Apprently he was dead set on tangoing with this random stranger.

Tina had been about to sit down when she felt a hand take hers and pull her into a body. It wasn't uncommon for Mike to randomly start dancing with her, it was Mike after all. Especially after Asian Camp. The two would just randomly start dancing and enjoy themselves. But what was strange was that he was doing it now.

"What the.... Mike?" Looking at her 'boyfriend', Tina's brows knit forward in confusion, "I thought you needed time to...." And then she noticed it. It was ever so slight, really, it was the shoes. She had never seen Mike wear those shoes. "You're not-" And as the dance continued, Tina found her voice again, "Mike."

Flushing, the goth could do nothing but dance along. It was as if she had no will of her own, and that was annoying.

"Who are you." Tango. tango. "And why do you look like Mike?" Was this one of those strange.. people coming from different worlds thing? And what was the chance of someone looking just like Mike and dancing like him as well? And why the hell was he dancing with her. She was so confused that she didn't have a chance to be shy.

This was what Elliot liked. The girl seemed to be enjoying herself and quite frankly, Elliot enjoyed when he and the X7s were perfectly in sync. It was a nice, and he'd been working on that for months.

That changed, however, when Tina said the word. The word that Elliot was beginning to associate with mistakes and mishaps and all the 'wacky mayhem' sitcoms normally included. Mike. He stopped dancing, though he still held the small of her back and offered a slight apologetic smile.

"I'm, uh, actually not Mike Chang." He winced, wondering if there was a lighter way to put it. What the hell was it with Mike Chang and girls?! It was enough to drive him up the wall, but instead he offered the same small smile he had seconds before. He didn't say anything after a while, and then realized how close they were. Letting her go, he wound up shrugging, unable to actually look her in the eye.

"Sorry. I'm Elliot. Not Mike."

Blinking as they suddenly stopped, Tina shook her head to clear it and gave a small nod to Elliot's words about not being Mike. Well, that certainly made things make more sense. And less sense as well. After all, why would a stranger just randomly start dancing with her? It made no sense. But it made sense because Mike was still figuring out his heart and wouldn't just start dancing with her.

True, her hopes had gotten up only to crash again, but she could deal with that. And then she was let go and Elliot had stepped back and Tina was brought back to reality.

"You don't need to apologize. You just look exactly like him so you confused me. It's fine, really. But I'm Tina." A year ago, the sentence would have been stuttered out because she was trying to put space between herself and others, but Tina was over the fake stutter thing. Sometimes she felt like doing it again, especially here, but she managed to keep from doing so.

Elliot scrunched up his face, nodding, and rooted around his pockets for his glasses, finally putting them on and still looking embarrassed. Always Mike's girls, for some reason. Always. He wound up shrugging, looking at the girl--definitely a little younger than him, so it would make sense she knew Mike--and deciding since he danced with her he may as well talk.

"If it helps any, I'm normally dancing," He offered, pointing at his shoes. "And I'm always wearing these. Mike is..." He trailed off--a diplomatic answer would probably be needed. "Mike's an interesting guy." It wasn't his fault all that crap happened--and the two made up, or at least sort of did--but it was just weird to have the same face.

"How d'you know him? Not another girlfriend, are you? I don't feel like any more accidents in that department." It was a half-joke, however cynical, but Elliot really did resent his first time visiting the complex.

The diplomatic comment on Mike did not go unnoticed by Tina. There was obviously some bad blood between the two. Probably on account of the face thing. Which Tina could respect, it would be weird to see someone who had her face as well. Who knew what sort of things would happen and how many confusing incidents would occur.

"Got it." And then there was the questions. The one about her being another girlfriend. Tensing up, Tina looked down and wiped at her eyes. How many people knew about Kitty? And what if her Glee friends preferred her to Tina? But she was sighed and looked up.

"Yeah, one of his girlfriends. I've known him my entire life, we grew up together and started dating last summer." Sighing, Tina folded her hair to the side and shifted her wait. She wasn't used to talking to strangers, she preferred keeping to herself.

Elliot froze. Wait, that was actually what was going on?

"Wow," he managed, looking to the side. Tina was visibly uncomfortable and Elliot was mentally berating himself for being such an idiot. "I was joking," He supplied, as if that would make things better though the moment the words came out of his mouth he wondered if they would help or hinder.

Wincing at his foolishness, he let out a long sigh before deciding to go up front. "I didn't mean to make you awkward--I'm new here, too.. To be honest I'm still adjusting. I had just got my ass kicked by sirens a few days before waking up here, and now I'm magically in Kansas" And before that I found a magical pair of shoes that forced me to go to an academy where I now use the power of dance as a weapon. He kept that bit to himself and instead tried to cheer the other up.

He offered his hand, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not exactly Mr. Cool and Social, but would another dance make you smile a little bit? I didn't mean to drag you down."

"Surprise..." The comment was weak at the mention of Elliot being joking. It made her feel slightly better to know that the entire complex didn't know about the drama, though the majority probably did anyway. Small complex, gossip travels. It was like that at McKinley, that was certain. And then Elliot was talking about being new there and Tina looked up and gave a small nod.

"It's fine. Yeah, Mike and I had just gotten back from a date and I went to check the mail and I was in Kansas... but at least you're from a world where strange things happen? I'm just in Glee club. No powers, nothing special...."

Seeing the offered hand, Tina blinked and looked between it and Elliot's face, flushing slightly. He seemed nice enough, and it wasn't as if a dance meant anything. It was just a dance and it would help to distract her.

"Sure." Taking the hand, Tina waited to see just what Elliot had in mind for their dance.

"You're special." The words came out of Elliot's mouth before he could even think. "You don't need powers or anything in order to be special," he insisted.

"Hard work gets you places, too." He had pulled her by the hand and had begun waltzing--something nice and fun but not too energetic. "My best friends, the Fanboyz, they got accepted into the LXD on hard work alone. Most other people were born with it, I found it, they worked for it." He wasn't sure if he was just babbling nonsense or actually making her feel better, so he stayed quiet for a few seconds, thinking.

"I accidentally kissed Kitty Pryde," he managed. "I mean, she kind of came at me thinking I was Mike, so..." He winced. "What I mean is that you're not the only one who things this whole Mike thing is weird. At least he didn't steal your face."

Hearing someone say she was special caused Tina to flush. Mike thought she was special or at least he had but what if he didn't anymore? But now Mike's look a like was saying she was special, and it caused the shy teen to react accordingly. Then again, Elliot had a point. Hard work could get her somewhere. It was just hard to accept in a world where demons existed and there were people with powers.

"I know, I just feel so... inadequate in comparison to people here." To Kitty. Of course, then came another bombshell. He had kissed Kitty, or Kitty had kissed him. Either way, it seemed she wasn't the only one who had made the mistake. It made her feel better, knowing that Kitty had crossed a line that not even Tina had. So Kitty didn't know Mike as well as her. That was something at least.

"Wow. I don't know what I'd do if there were someone who looked like me here.

Elliot grinned sheepishly. "Yeah, it's really confusing. He thinks I'm his evil twin or something, but we seem pretty alike. I mean," He shrugged. "Mike is cooler and gets girls and knows how to talk to people," Elliot was terrible and being social, "but we both have the same facial expressions and we like and dislike the same foods and I think we even clean the same way." Which was..weird. "It's like he's stealing my identity but being more awesome with it."

But that didn't matter--nothing mattered except a dance and trying to cheer up the poor girl. No one needed to be sad, and from the looks of it Mike was really bothering her. "So, Tina, right? Tell me about yourself. Have a 'you' moment. Everyone needs those."

"That is strange... especially the fact that you two seem to be really similar... and not just physically. But you seem to be talking to me just fine." It was true, if Tina hadn't known any better, she wouldn't have suspected that he didn't have a way with words. But she couldn't comment on the cooler or gets girls comment because, well, she didn't know how to. "I'm sure he's not trying to steal your identity. I mean... I don't know. It's strange."

As they danced, Tina was letting herself fall into the familiar motions of the dance, the familiar steps. She wasn't as good a dancer as Mike or Brittany, but she was still good. It was a way her parents were able to keep her busy while they weren't around. Dance classes and giving her to Mike's mom to look after her when she was younger.

"What about me? There's not much to say... I'm Tina, the resident goth of Glee club and I faked a stutter for years to avoid talking to people..." Shrugging, Tina looked up at her dance partner and canted her head to the side. Really, she didn't know what else there was to say about herself. She wasn't pretty and popular, she was just... Tina.
