"If those consequences include you getting splinched because of me, you can bloody well forget about it," Ron shot back, a fire lighting in his eyes. It was sort of funny to look at, when compared to his skin - which was paler than usual because of the blood loss - and his current weakened state. Figured, it did. He was concussed, there were demons looking to off him, and even with all those things going on, it still came down to whether or not he was going to one up Hermione. Except, this time, the one upping was more important. It wasn't about proving who was more clever or right; it was about making sure that Hermione survived. He should have asked more people to come along. Hermione was a brilliant witch, yeah, but sometimes there were things out there that even she couldn't defend herself against, and if one of those things happened to rough her up too badly because of him...
"Don't be daft," Ron said sternly, pushing up again. "Now, let's stop wasting time, all right? We've got loads of ground to cover and who knows how much time we've left to do it." There, he was taking initiative. Steering on to more important things than Hermione disagreeing with him - mostly because Ron knew that she would. It wasn't what one would call a surprising turn of events, especially when he was trying to hinder Hermione from doing something heroically stupid. Harry might have taken the lead on that particular department between the three of them, but they were still Gryffindor's too. Bravery and heroics and the like were in their bones. That didn't seem all too likely to change anytime soon. Certainly not with Hermione, anyhow.
