It was when he got to the lobby that he realized maybe the problem was a little bigger than some stupid civvie wandering where they shouldn't. It was Ruby. Ruby was at the desk ringing the bell. What the fuck was Ruby doing at the desk ringing the bell? How the fuck had she gotten in? Not that he minded that it was Ruby, after inviting him to their Thanksgiving she pretty much had made herself a friend for life, but she was a demon and she wasn't supposed to be able to get in unless the wards were fucked.
He shambled over to the desk, leaning against it and folding his arms against his chest, and grumbled, "Ease up on the bell, Ruby. The hell happened to the wards?" Okay, so he wasn't chipper. He was actually the opposite of chipper, and it showed in his voice and in the cranky look on his face, but he was still managing enough concern and responsibility to actually find out what was wrong with the wards.
