Who: Tish and OTA What: Finishing up some shopping and trying to tack fake mistletoe to a doorway in the complex. Christmas stuff. When: Afternoonish Where: the apartment complex
Thanks to the very convincing job Alec Hardison had done on Tish’s new identity, Tish had been able to seek employment. It was on this day that she had received her first paycheck. Her new boss in this world was awesome, not as awesome as Trucker had been in that Santa Cruz sandwich shop but awesome nonetheless. With it being the holidays he had agreed to pay Tish in advance. It wasn’t much, but at least she didn’t need to spend it on rent. She had her free apartment in the complex on the list of things she was grateful for that Christmas.
Since Tish was lacking in her wardrobe, she’d visited some local consignment stores and Target to find a couple decent outfits to wear. It was Christmastime and her miniskirt just didn’t fit in with what everyone else was wearing. She also bought a comfortable blanket to snuggle up under at night.
She was only just getting to know the other folks who’d come to Lawrence under strange circumstances like she had, so she didn’t exactly have a list of Christmas presents to buy. That was probably a good thing as she just had enough money to buy things for herself, things that she really needed. Still, she’d invested in candy bars for Leon and Puck and also in a decoration she found lacking in the complex’s lobby.
Quinn had done an excellent job of decorating the place, but she’d missed one of Tish’s favorite Christmas traditions - Mistletoe. The mistletoe Tish had bought looked real from a distance but was really made of plastic. She’d found the real thing at a couple of local florist shops, but the plastic version was cheaper.
Now Tish found herself teetering on the edge of a chair, trying to fix the plastic mistletoe to an arch in the lobby with a thumbtack. It seemed like the ceiling was just barely out of reach even with the added height the chair had given her. Life could be frustrating.
