Who: Arthas Menethil/(open)
When: Sometime in the early afternoon
Where: Lawrence, Kansas. A busy area in town.
What: Arthas arrives.
Ratings: PG-13, for now.
[[His armor(ish): http://tinyurl.com/22qapsu
His sword: http://tinyurl.com/267cyxv]]

Some people might think logically about being transported to another dimension. They might immediately wonder why, start researching methods to return home, find someone to calmly explain to them where they were. Others might just go with it, figuring that their lives back where they had come from weren’t really all that great, and now was a good time to start over.

Arthas Menethil, however, was not either of those people. He had been transported in the afternoon, into the midst of the city, where it was currently as crowded as it probably ever got on a normal day. There were alien looking buildings, vehicles even goblins hadn’t thought up yet, and the manner of dress was something he had never seen before. He stuck out like a sore thumb, as it were, considering his body was sheathed in a layer of chain-mail, and on top of that, heavy plate armor. A sword was gripped tightly in one hand, glowing blue and perpetually emanating frost.

“You.” He grabbed a random male passerby from the sidewalk by the collar of his shirt, the sharp metal armor covering his knuckles dangerously close to his throat. “I am Prince Arthas Menethil of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. If you do not tell me where I am, I swear on my father’s throne I will strike you down where you stand.” Of course, this got no legible answer other than a squawk for help, and it was then that he heard the dark whisper in his mind.

No…mercy…

But he had to fight it. He winced against the demanding call of the sword, and dropped the man, hurrying off into an alleyway to regain his composure. What was happening here? Did these people not know of his land? And why, with his father’s blood still drying on his hands, had he been called here?

Caroline was out for a walk with Smurfette. Despite the fact that there were signs about the city saying dogs needed to be on leashes, she ignored them. Smurfette was a good dog, she didn't need a leash, and it wasn't like she was going to bite anyone. Unless Caroline told her too.

Then she saw the Brad Pitt lookalike (because really what were the chances of Brad Pitt actually showing up here), and him grab the man in front of him. She heard what he said too, heightening hearing was one of the good things (or well...sometimes a drawback) of being a vampire. After the guy scurried off Caroline looked down at her dog, who gazed right back up at her.

"What do you think Smurfette?" she asked. "You think we go help Mr. Brad-Pitt-Wannabe with the scary sword."

Smurfette barked in approval, and Caroline began to make her way over to him. She figured he was new, he certainly smelt new. It was the get up he was in that was the real give away. No one who had been in the city for even a few hours would be dumb enough to dress like that. Unless they were really stubborn, or just stupid. She eyed the sword for a few moments, which actually was very pretty. Not something she'd every want to touch, but pretty all the same.

In all honesty Caroline wasn't afraid of him. For one thing, she was probably just as strong, if not a bit stronger than he was and she was fast, very fast. So if things got ugly she could be gone, very fast, and probably get a punch or two in. Or she could compulse him, but that would be wrong, and she was determined to be a good vampire. Controlling someones thoughts, did not fall into the category of a good guy.

"Let me guess," Caroline called out as she approached him, keeping some distance (just in case). "You have absolutely no idea where you are, or how you got here, right?"

"I won't!" Arthas' voice boomed in the small alleyway, and he'd driven his sword down into the ground, splintering the concrete beneath him, ice beginning to coat the ground where the blade had breached it. The voice in his head was demanding a kill, it had already been too long since it had consumed a soul.

He turned around, startled, when he heard the woman's voice. His eyes were wide and slightly wild, his usually princely composure gone for the moment.

"Did you have something to do with this?" He yanked Frostmourne up out of the ground and walked forward, brandishing it. As soon as he got closer though, he noticed something was wrong. Something was...off about this one. As a Paladin, he was able to use a holy form of magic against undead creatures, and could sense them nearby. This one was obviously no zombie, but then...what was she?

"You are not human." He remarked, confident in his realization. There were no vampires in his land, however, so he had only gotten that far. "What is the black magic that has brought me here, creature? Speak, or you die. This sword brings power to me that you have never dreamed of, regardless of...what you are."

Was he talking to himself? Great, a really hot new guy arrives and he is crazy. Caroline kicked herself for not leaving him be, and going to Starbucks like she originally planned. Oh wait...she was trying to be a good vampire right? Which meant helping people?

Of course all her ideas of being nice to him, went right out the window when he called her creature. Caroline was well aware she wasn't human, and she was more on the monster side of things than anything else - but really? She couldn't help but laugh though at the threat, because in all honesty the situation was pretty bizarre. Here she was a vampire and here he was, whatever he was, looking like Brad Pitt with a gigantic sword. It reminded Caroline of something the anime geeks at her school would carry around - only theirs were obviously much, much stronger.

"Call me creature again," Caroline said, crossing her arms over her chest. "And I'll do things to you that you have never dreamed of." All it would take was eye contact and a few choice words and Caroline could have him clucking like a chicken, or doing anything else she saw fit. Which would be mean even for her, but still she could do it.

"My name is Caroline, and if you want me to help you, that is how you'll address me," she said sternly her eyes narrowing. "You can try and kill me, and I mean try but I doubt you'll even get close."

She tilted her head to the side. Hoping she was right about the last bit. She had superspeed and superstrength, but she really had no idea what the sword could do. Maybe she should have paid more attention to Matt's video games and comics.

"You are in Lawrence, Kansas. Which I'm gonna guess means absolutely nothing to you. You're here because someone broke one of the 66 seals to hell. And I had nothing to do with it, I was brought here just like you."

This time it was Arthas’ turn to laugh. It was strange, considering just moments ago he’d been freaking out, but this one’s arrogance seemed to rival his own. She was obviously unaware of the stories behind his blade, Frostmourne was practically all-powerful. Even he had not unlocked all its secrets yet, and he was its wielder. He had heard rumors it could raise men from the dead into all sorts of twisted forms. It ate souls, used them to fuel its dark deeds.

“Whatever you are, you are still beneath me in rank. I am Prince Arthas Menethil, and I will address you however it pleases me to do so. If Caroline is the name you have chosen to…humanize yourself, then so be it, but your title means nothing to me. I have turned demons to ash with the power of the Light, and this…” he gazed down at Frostmourne almost lovingly, “well, do you even have a soul to steal, Caroline?”

He thought on her words for a moment, and then shook his head. “Kansas is not among the kingdoms of Azeroth. The name means naught to me, of all the places I have been through portals of mages and the like, none have been such as this place.” He looked around the dark alleyway, wrinkling his nose at the conditions he’d found himself in. “Is there an inn or other such place of hospitality nearby? I must shed this heavy armor and find a place to bed for the night.”

"Prince, huh?" Caroline feigned being impressed. "Well good for you, but excuse me if I don't bow. This is the United States, we don't do Princes and stuff here."

The human comment actually hurt. Which was stupid, because this guy was new here, he was probably a bit confused and all. Still, she was struggling enough between the monster vs. human thing. She didn't need someone saying stuff like that. Just because she wasn't alive and had to feed on blood to survive, didn't make her any less human...did it?

"I'm really happy for you," Caroline replied sarcastically. "And yes I have a soul. Probably more of one than most people, I'm just going through a phase. You can also quit trying to be a scary bad ass, that sort of thing doesn't work on me."

At her feet Sumerfette began to growl. Caroline glanced down at her dog and then bent down to scoop her up. Of course the hot new guy, could just be an asshole. Weren't all princes assholes, with the exception of Prince William, who just would be getting married.

"There is a complex," she shrugged, standing up, holding the squirming dog in her arms. "It's where almost all the displaced people are staying. I'll take you there."

They can deal with you, she added mentally.

"But only if you're nice. Otherwise you're on your own."
