Cas/Ruby
Ruby moved through the camp quickly avoiding the areas she knew well to be trapped. She'd helped the others lay them down after all, recalling her time on the other side for the tactics she needed to help them. Time on the other side, that was a laugh. Turned out she was right back there without Sam. Lost and desperate for glimpses of her husband. And she needed those glimpses. In spite of all of the bad that it meant, she wouldn't trade them for everything. Still, that was all they were and sometimes Ruby simply needed to forget. She and Cas had progressed from drinking buddies to sharing whatever new and exotic forget the world drugs he'd found that week. She'd sit there, listening to him give his talks, watching the women fawning over him like the second coming or something and sometimes she found it utterly hillarious.
Other times she actually wished that she could believe it. Because if she let herself believe it and be taken in by it there'd be a release she hadn't felt properly in the years since Sam had said yes to the devil. And she'd considered trying once or twice, asking him if adding a demon to his downfall wouldn't be too horrific a possibility. But she never went through with it.
She let herself into the cabin and smiled as she found she could already inhale something interesting. No women at the minute, that was probably for the best, though he tended to make time for her when she asked. "You here Cas?" she asked, wondering how likely it was that they could just sit, and smoke and pop pill after pill and forget the world for a little while. Her meetings with Lucifer, with what Sam had been reduced to were taking a lot out of her, and much as she couldn't tell Cas any of that, she could just sit with him. Talk. Laugh.
