She really had to applaud Quinn's efforts to bring a little Christmas spirit to the complex. It was one of her absolute favorite holidays, had been since she was a little girl, and celebrating in the last few years hadn't reached the familial level that she had before she'd been shipped off to Sunnydale. The Slayers had celebrated in their own way, exchanging names for Secret Santa, and the more culinary inclined had put together a worthy dinner. But it just hadn't been the same as being with her family.
Now that she was in another dimension altogether, unable to contact her parents, her brother, the other Slayers, it was a little more melancholy. But she had her friends here that were absolutely amazing people and who she wanted to show that appreciation to when it came to giving gifts. So that was what she was going to try to focus on, starting with the encouragement of the holiday celebrations.
Dressed in an oversized hoodie, shorts, sneakers, hair pulled into a ponytail, she headed downstairs for the community kitchen, tapping a worn notecard on her knuckles. The recipe had been pulled off the internet her first Christmas there, with full intent to be used, but instead had floated around her apartment. But this year, she fully intended to make those sugar cookies, or at least attempt. Since she didn't feel like sleeping, tonight seemed like the right time to give it a shot.
"You might still be in this mess," she said, catching the tail end of the statement as she entered the kitchen, "only with a cool time traveling car." That he had made a reference, even to no one in particular, that involved Back to the Future, made him seem like someone she wanted to talk to. Possibly a fellow geek.
