Castiel had developed some expectations as he walked. The most likely option was that Zachariah would appear and give him some order or another, though, as yet, he couldn't feel his presence. There was a chance he would see one or other of the brothers, likely both. A third option was that he would see no one he recognised and would, eventually, leave.
There was a fourth option. It was currently hurrying down the street, looking from side to side in a way that indicated it was being pursued. He looked beyond the figure but could see nothing behind it. Behind her.
She pulled up in front of him. Had she not been in that state before she became aware of his presence he would just have assumed she was afraid of being sent home by him, or of him taking her life, but it was clear to Castiel he was merely something else for her to fear. It may be a bad sign.
"I am aware of my name, Ruby," Castiel said with mild distaste. It was just possible Ruby had been the one to bring him here, and he considered asking, but she hardly seemed in control. She barely seemed in control of herself.
It was just possible there was a threat here he was unaware of. For now he needed her knowledge. He kept his voice even as he asked, "Are you being pursued?"
