Buffy glared at him, even though she knew he was right. Flashbacks of Xander's words the second time she tried to runaway back in Sunnydale came floating back as well. She kicked herself mentally. Yes it was selfish, but, but...oh God who was she kidding she had no idea what she was doing. Never in her entire life had Buffy felt more lost. She had a purpose before, she was the Slayer, she knew what she was supposed to do. She had a reason. But here? What was that? There were other Slayers, people more powerful than she was. Sure the fight between good and evil was important...but did they need her ?
Damn, teenage angst.
"Spike," Buffy managed when she could finally talk. It was weird, talking like this with him. She wanted to ask him why. Why he cared about her so much, why he was willing to risk getting burnt up to get her to go back to the complex with him. This was definitely not the Spike she was used too, maybe she really should give him that chance he had missed out on with her older self.
If she did runaway her friends would never forgive her. Xander certainly wouldn't that much was made obvious from the last time. Spike clearly wouldn't. And what about the friends she had made here, what about Booth?
She wanted to say it wasn't fair. Because none of it was. Life really was a bitch. Buffy couldn't help but wonder if reincarnation was real, and if in a past life she had done something really bad. No, that was just stupid...right?
"What would she have done?" Buffy asked. Meaning the other Buffy. Buffy almost hated the other version of herself, which was stupid. But how could she not. It was kind of like having an annoying twin, or something. "You know...her."
