The last thing Buffy wanted right now was to talk to someone. Especially someone she knew from back home. Even if this wasn't exactly the Spike she was familiar with, and she hadn't gotten used to the whole idea of him being a good guy and of them being...something. In all honesty, Buffy had been avoiding him. She knew eventually they needed to talk, but she wasn't ready, she still wasn't ready. She hoped she'd never have to, she hoped she could just sneak away from everyone...so much for that. It could have been worse though, it could have been Xander here, or Anya, or Dawn - that would have been awkward. Or it could have been Booth, which was something and someone Buffy did not want to think about.
He was one of the reasons she was running away. Whatever they were, she wasn't being fair to him. She wondered what the other Buffy would do, the one who had been here before. Would she have been more of a leader? A better friend? Better at relationships in general? Would she be running away right now.
It was just better for everyone if she took off. It was simpler this way. Back home when she tried to do it the second time and got caught, Xander said she was being selfish. Maybe she was - but they'd get over it. Then everyone could just move on.
She was too tired to put up a fight. Instead she pulled her ticket out of her pocket and stared at it. "Somewhere in Nebraska," Buffy replied, shrugging. She squinted at the ticket a moment, before putting it back into her pocket.
She glanced over at Spike, and then wrinkled her nose. "You shouldn't be here," Buffy said. "The sun is coming up."
Buffy took a step into the shadows of the station instinctively, hoping Spike would follow. She may be confused by him but the last thing she wanted was him to burst into flames. Or for him to cause a scene.
"Spike," Buffy crossed her arms over her chest, though that was more to keep warm than anything else - she was freezing. "Why are you here?"
