"Of course you haven't," Gabriel replied in an amused tone. "If you had, you'd be dead. Civilized cannibals may be civilized, but they're still cannibals. Think with your head." Gabriel tapped at the side of his head at that, as if the gesture alone would somehow knock some sense into Jaina. He kinda doubted that it would.
Wounded animal? Gabriel was being compared to a wounded animal? He may not have had an ego the size of his big bro Lucy, but Gabriel was an archangel with quite the reputation. He didn't like being talked down to, especially not by humans who were half sane to begin with. "You think I didn't hear them coming?" Gabriel looked down at the corpse, pretending to be entirely unimpressed with the sight of the charred body. Honestly, he'd have probably been more interested in the sight if he hadn't been powerless right about now. In fact, Gabriel would have immediately put Jaina in a situation where he'd get her to use more of her powers. Something ironic though - like a zombie infested lightning storm. Or at least that was what he would use if he was aware that she had killed the old zombie lady with lightning to begin with.
Damn this mortality.
"I can handle myself. I don't need you to 'save my life' - and yeah. It is stalking, because I don't want you here and I don't need you here. So do yourself a favor and scram before my powers come back." He stubbornly folded his arms over his chest and tapped his foot against the pavement. Right. Powers coming back. That'd be any second now...
Wait. Food? Gabriel's eyes dropped down to the bag that Jaina was digging through. Okay, maybe he was a little hungry. It wasn't like there was much left in the stores he'd been digging through, and he'd been walking around without a meal for days. But it was the human's food. And he didn't want help from a human. He didn't need her help. Gabriel was just fine on his own - he'd managed himself for hundreds of years that way. He didn't need a meal from some woman who thought that she had actually saved him. Which, okay, she had. But still.
His stomach immediately let out a low, defiant sort of growl. Gabriel put a hand to his side and frowned. He didn't like that feeling. Hunger. Maybe just a little food would be okay. In exchange for something, because Gabriel wasn't taking any pity gifts here. He'd promise to spare her life when he got his powers back. For a little while, possibly.
