Sam had spent days trapped in the mind of a madman, topped off by the overwhelming presence of Lucifer squeezing and twisting at them both, controlling everything that they did, making them both suffer in ways that Ruby couldn't even begin to imagine and she wanted him to just let go? Sam pushed to his feet as soon as Ruby scattered, a little more steadily - though not by much - than the Sam of the future had been able to manage himself. "No," Sam said stubbornly, looking down in surprise when he realized that he was completely lacking in a top. It is cold, he realized, one hand rising to rub at his shoulder awkwardly. "I'm not being puppeted around anymore. And you -" Sam clamped his mouth shut, teeth grinding together in irritation as his mind began to slip. His eyes widened a little when he realized that it wasn't the other Sam pushing to gain control again. It was him. He was losing his mind too.
Blinking, Sam brought a hand up to rub at his eyes, shaking the unpleasant sensations away. He didn't wanna be like the future version of himself. He didn't want to be scattered and unusual and out of control. He had to hang on. Sam had to find a way out of here. Not this room, specifically, or this house. But the future.
"Ruby is in there?" Sam's attention snapped back to the Ruby. Future Ruby. Not his Ruby. No, his Ruby wasn't here. Or was she? "You mean she's trapped, like I was? Like..." Sam pushed a hand through his hair, turning on the spot in bewilderment. "Are you telling me that someone shoved us here, into our future bodies, for...What? What are we even doing here? What are we supposed to be doing if we're trapped so deep down that we can't even control ourselves? I don't understand, Ruby, and you..." Sam breathed out slowly. "What the hell happened to you?"
Sam didn't give her a chance to respond. He shook his head and laughed. "You're asking her that? What the hell happened to us, Sam? You said yes to the Devil. You did this, you're responsible for this, and Ruby...and..." Sam looked back to Ruby, unaware that he had been talking out loud, least of all to himself. "You're working for Lucifer. To be with me. And, hey, you know...I get it. I do. You don't have it easy, with not-me here having gone off and screwed you and everyone else over. But, Ruby..." Sam didn't want to go near her. She honestly scared him a little, mostly because what Sam was looking at was the end result of a big mess that he had personally created. He had to though. He had to make Ruby see, or at least try, that way she could help him. He needed her help. He had to go back. Reluctantly, Sam reached out and tried to put a hand to her cheek. It was such a simple, yet gentle action. One that he was so used to doing to his own Ruby that Sam only found it right to try on this one. She wasn't his, he knew that, but he also knew that deep down the one that he loved was still there.
Sam wasn't too sure if that was because he believed that this Ruby was still the one that he knew somehow or if it was because he actually knew his Ruby was in there with her. Either way...
"You're stronger than this. And he's - I'm gonna have to wait it out. Because right now? Me getting to the past is a whole lot more important than you getting to feed me demon blood. Again. Which, by the way? I'm not very happy about. So, yeah - no. I'm not gonna just let him take over again so you can force me back into a habit that I just broke free from in a way that I, personally, can't resist. Don't ask me to do that. Not if you ever cared about me. Now stop. Look at me. Try and see reason here, okay? If we can get me back, I can change this. We can still be together. I won't ever say yes to Lucifer and you and me can be together all the time, rather than for small moments at a time that you have to kiss Lucifer's ass to get your hands on. Wouldn't that be better? Don't you want to be free again?"
