Sam immediately pulled away from her touch when Ruby reached for his arm. He defensively shrank back against the wall, looking for all the world like a cornered, wild animal. He looked at her anxiously, not quite understanding why this demon was trying to get his attention. Demon, demon, demon in a red dress. He didn't want to play with her; she was going to make him red, too. Sam's fingers tightened in his hair, messing it up considerably in comparison to the neat way that Lucifer kept it combed. He wanted to pull it out. It was too long. Why was his hair too long? Sam started to attempt doing just that, fingers pulling roughly at the dark strands tangled between his fingers. He went quiet, though, when the item that the red demon held in her hand glinted at him.
A ring. Sam tentatively reached out and took it, the surface of the band feeling somewhat familiar to the touch. He eyed the demon warily, then slid back to the wall again, clutching the item close to himself. What was it? Was it his? Sam turned it over in his hands, vague memories flitting through his mind at the sight of the object.
It was a wedding ring. His wedding ring. Sam peered off at Ruby, realizing that it was his because of her. Because she was his wife. That was why he was here, wasn't it? Because...because Ruby had asked for it. Lucifer. Ruby. All the plotting the two had done together. Sam had caught small glimpses of it in his time holed away inside Lucifer's grip, but Sam hadn't processed it fully. Not until now.
"...why?" Sam asked her, eyes going wide. "What did he ever do to you?" Sam turned a little more outward, a look of pure disbelief crossing his face. "Why are you helping Lucifer kill my brother?"
