"Hm." Lucifer looked down at the bible after Ruby's reassurances, shrugging. "I'll keep it here anyway. You never know: Sam might be in the mood to do some reading." Lucifer reached up and straightened out the collar of his white shirt, then gestured for Ruby to turn around. Demons were weak creatures. They could not withstand the strength of an angel's true essence, let alone his. When Ruby had her back to him, Lucifer said, "If you try to betray me again, Ruby, I will kill you without a thought." Warning issued, Lucifer spared the bible one final glance before he released his hold on his vessel. A blinding light burst throughout the room, spreading rapidly within the entire house in a matter of seconds. The entire first floor was filled with a shuddering, violently bright light, one that made even the demons standing guard at a safe distance away from the house turn away to shield their eyes.
Once the light faded, Lucifer's vessel weakly fell to it's knees. Head flopping forward in an almost sickly manner, Sam Winchester toppled forward, slowly. His face smacked the carpet hard, then his entire body went still.
It wasn't the ability to control his own body once more that made Sam aware that he was free. It was the sudden shock of warmth that rushed him, the air within the house turning out to be ten times warmer than Lucifer himself. It wasn't enough to eliminate the violent shudders that began to overtake Sam's body once he became aware of himself, but it was enough of a change to make Sam will his eyes open. Free. He was free. But was he really? Was it another joke? Was Lucifer leaving him again, only to return later to snatch him up for his apocalypse once more? Sam didn't move. He didn't dare. Maybe if he stayed quiet, kept his face to the floor, and didn't do a damned thing Lucifer wouldn't bother him. Maybe he could just stay this way forever. Quiet. Hidden. Free.
