Caroline jumped when she heard her name being spoken. Normally it would have been impossible to sneak up on her - but then again this was the devil, normal didn't fit in here. She felt like she had been hit in her stomach. She swallowed, doing the breathing technique Stefan had taught her years ago, before she had even arrived in Lawrence. Hoping that it would calm her down, it didn’t. Now that he was here, that she could see him, Caroline felt even more nervous.
"I said I'd be here," Caroline replied. "I’m a Forbes; I stay true to my word." That, and if she did, she knew that it would make things worse, and it was just stupid. She didn’t think Lucifer would like that very much; he’d probably flat out kill everyone she cared about for that.
Was she sure? No she wasn't. Not one bit, she was scared, she was beyond terrified. She hadn’t been this scared in a long time – not since she first started becoming a vampire, and she had no control, no idea what was happening to her. It was similar now, because Caroline had no idea what was about to happen to her. She looked up at his face, partially surprised she had the guts to do that, and surprised by his expression. Caroline was fighting the urge to cry, but she nodded. He was right, she wouldn't like begging - she was Caroline Forbes, she never begged. Things were different now, she'd have to get used to that.
Damon was going to kill her. Bonnie probably would too, and Kurt, and Quinn – they all would. Caroline really had wished she could have gone and compelled them all (with the exception of Damon). Compelled them to hate her, to loathe her very existence, and then take away all the memories they had of being friends. It would make things so much easier.
"Yes," Caroline said, lowering her gaze so she was looking at her shoes. "I'm sure."
