Lucifer was precise with his timing. Rather than showing up early or late, he appeared behind Caroline noiselessly right on time. Dark hair pushed back neatly, the Devil clasped his hands together in front of himself, the fancy white suit that he had taken a liking to sticking out tremendously in comparison to their dark and dreary surroundings. Lucifer had chosen this suit for that purpose. It represented the truth: this world had gone to hell because of humanity and he, Lucifer, happened to be the only pure, right thing among them. The humans wouldn't see it that way, but he hardly expected for them to understand. They were little more than barbarians, if even that in his eyes. He had been the first to deem them hairless apes; thousands of years later and, still, Lucifer stuck by his opinion.
Caroline was no better than they were, either. She may well have been a vampire, but she had started out as a human, just as his demons had. Lucifer planned on disposing of them when the time was right. Caroline herself would receive the same treatment by the time Lucifer finished what he had started. However, until then, Lucifer found that the vampire still had the potential to be useful. He had kept a close eye on her over the years, watching as she and her friend, Damon, attacked the humans with no remorse whatsoever. He knew what she was capable of. She wasn't the most powerful creature to walk the earth, but Caroline was still capable. Lucifer would find some way to make her useful, in time.
"Hello, Caroline," Lucifer said from just above her shoulder. She was a brave one, he'd give her that. Not many would dare try and strike a deal directly with himself. He had an army of demons at his beck and call for that purpose in itself - to think that a being so small wanted to skip out on the easy route and face up to him in person...well. Lucifer smiled. It was impressive. He may have loathed humans with a passion, but Lucifer had no difficulty in giving them credit it where it was due. "I'm surprised you showed. Not many would." Lucifer tilted his head to the side, looking Caroline over thoughtfully. Such a small creature. Yet she was still very brave. It was an unusual sight, even for him. That was one thing he would never understand about some humans. They threw themselves to the fire, even though they knew that they were going to burn when they did. Ah, well. At least Caroline wouldn't be surprised. She knew what she was getting herself into. And yet...
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Lucifer asked, brows knitting together in an act of false concern. His vessel was good for that. Sam Winchester had quite the 'puppy eyes', as others had called it. The number of convincing sympathetic looks he had distributed in the past had a lot to do with the body he was wearing. Smiling a little at the thought of the tiny, almost nonexistent presence quietly curled up in his vessel, Lucifer reached out and put a hand to Caroline's shoulder, gripping it surprisingly gently for someone as powerful as the Devil. "Selling your soul is a very serious thing. Most people come back, begging for another chance by the end of the deal. I don't think you would like begging very much."
