Aha! There it was! Admitting that he was right and she was wrong. Defeated. Ruby had been defeated by him. It really wasn't a competition. Sam was right - Ruby was tiny. Even by his gigantic standards, she was. If one were to stick her in a crowd, she'd be the first to vanish because of how unbelievably small she was. Sam proudly looked down at Ruby, the level of smug currently painted across his features all too quick to take reign over his entire mood. Tonight was a very good night, he decided. He was engaged, happy, and completely victorious. Now they could go right on back to celebrating, especially since they had even more to celebrate. Except for Ruby. She didn't have more to celebrate, seeing as she'd lost to his wit and brilliance. Yes, both of those things.
"Victory wine to go along with my victory grapes," Sam decided, shaking some of his dark hair out of his eyes. "Then, possibly, lots of victory sex. Which I think, as the losing party, you'll actually enjoy a lot." Sam leaned in, taking advantage of the way that Ruby was sitting so closely to him by pressing a cheerful kiss to her lips.
"Who said anything about me being smug?" Sam asked her, pulling back slightly. "I am completely unsmug. I can take my victory like a man. Honest." Sam put a hand to his heart and crossed it, as if that were a surefire guarantee. "I mean, it's not like you lost or anything. Badly. Because you're a cheater." Sam tried not to smile. He was mostly just giving her a hard time for the laughs.
...even if he did kind of enjoy the part where he was indeed feeling incredibly victorious.
