It was so strange, being able to touch her like this. Sam had no idea how he was able to maintain such a hold on her without accidentally pulling or hurting her, save for the fact that he was determined not to. He wished that there was more he could do than just hold onto that presence that he felt inside of the body before him, but Sam wasn't confident enough to bother attempting anything on her. Things could go wrong. And he wouldn't know what to do that wasn't painful if he tried.
Yet he held on. Quietly focusing, doing his best to avoid that struggle that always came with the use of his abilities.
She wasn't fighting him. That was the important thing. If she did, Sam didn't think he'd be able to avoid an accident. Ruby was being cooperative and he didn't know if that was going to be a worrying thing or if he shouldn't have been as surprised as he was. Either way, he didn't plan on letting go just yet. Sam didn't know if she'd ever let him do this again.
"You're scared," he said slowly. He could sense that much and Sam was pretty sure that it wasn't just because of the way she was looking at him either. Sam bowed his head lower, forehead pressing against her own as he kept his eyes focused. "Don't be." He didn't want her to be scared of him. Whatever it was that he was touching, as twisted and hideous as it likely was, Sam knew that it was also beautiful. Only because it was her.
He kept his hold up for a bit longer before finally the exhaustion gave in and Sam tentatively let go. He took a few seconds before pulling away from Ruby and looking down. His back was pressed against the wall again and he didn't look as certain of himself as he did in that moment where he assured Ruby that she had nothing to be afraid of.
...maybe he was the one that needed to be fearful now.
