Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Parker and anyone who wants to jump in
What: Parker is moving her things out of the complex
When: Daytime, present day
Where: Right now, the complex lobby

Parker looked around her room. It was just as bare as it had been upon her arrival in Lawrence. She’d never really been one to personalize her living spaces. It made moving much easier. All of her things in this world fit perfectly into the brown cardboard box sitting on her bed - her harness and gear, Bunny 2.0, and a box of Rocket O’s breakfast cereal.

She would miss this place. Sure, she’d still be around the town and would see the people wherever it was they went when they weren’t in the complex, but it wouldn’t be the same. One thing was for sure, she’d miss jumping off of the roof. Parker had gotten many a thrill jumping off of the complex roof. It had been such a welcome feeling in such a gloomy situation. And the air vents! They were just the right size for her to scurry around in when she had been searching for the secret Santa.

She lifted the box, awkwardly trying to make her way out of her old apartment. With a little wiggling and twisting of her body, she made it to the hallway.

Parker was certain that the place Hardison had gotten was wonderful. She remembered how he had fixed up their place in Boston and thinking of home brought a smile to her face as she made her way to the elevator, the elevator that she never used unless you counted the times when she’d jumped down the shaft.

After a second or two in the elevator, Parker walked, with her box, into the lobby. She looked around, slightly misty. Other than the Leverage offices, she’d never really been attached to a place at all and now she was finding herself a little sad about leaving.

Booth really kind of wanted to tell Parker not to leave, but it wasn't his place. She had her friends now, and he should be happy for her. It wasn't like they were an item or anything. So why did it make things so awkward that she was moving?

Truth be told he was more then a little uncomfortable with Hardison around, but he wasn't going to say that either. He didn't want to do anything to make things harder on the blond thief. Ironically. If this were a typical dimension and she were a typical thief, there may have been problems and things would have been different. But Booth knew better. Not only was crime not his department, they had bigger fish to fry and he was looking at the broad picture. Demons and the apocalypse and such.

He knew that some of Parker's team were unlikely to understand that message, but what mattered was he had friends like Eliot and Parker on his side even if the other didn't. Seeley was never good at goodbyes, but he didn't want her to go without at least giving her a hug or a handshake or..something. He ran a hand through his dark and short her as he made it down the stairs and into the lobby where he spotted her.

"Parker." He offered her a tiny smile and an attempt not to be weird. "Got everything?" He asked her as he walked closer to her and stood by her side.

Parker whipped around to see Booth. Even though she’d agreed to have him see her off she was caught off guard, a little bit. She hastily rubbed her eyes and pretended that she hadn’t been close to tearing up only moments prior to his arrival. She put on a smile.

“I do!” She tilted her big cardboard box so that he could see inside. “I’ve got a new Bunny and everything.” Parker smiled down at the plush rabbit in the corner of the box. Cereal, a harness, and a fluffy toy - These were staples in her world. “I even bought it, too!” She stated proudly, in reference to the Bunny. Booth had been the reason that she’d paid cash for the thing instead of just snagging it and making her escape.

Parker nipped awkwardly at her bottom lip, looking from her belongings then back to Booth. Without a word she set the box down at her feet and quickly moved in, giving Booth a tight hug. She wasn’t one to openly engage in displays of affection, but it kind of felt like the natural thing to do. If this was the last time Parker saw Booth in the complex then she wanted to get a good hug in.

“I don’t want to leave you. We’ll still be friends, right?” She looked up at him with big, sad eyes.

Seeley wasn't so easily fooled unfortunately. He'd been trained to pick up on these sorts of things, key emotions that could help him solve cases. It didn't take a genius FBI agent to figure out what was going through Parker's head when she whirled on him and showed him her box. "That's good. " He lied. She was..he didn't really know what she was. Somewhere between friend and more, but less considering Buffy and he had ..whatever they had going on.

Looking at the plush toy in the box and the almost excitement in her voice when she stated her purchase, he couldn't help but grin. When he was around her it just happened. He couldn't help but smile. He knew she was all kinds of eccentric, and in that way she reminded him of Bones. Making it only a little bit worse that she was going away.

When Parker moved in, he instinctively held her firmly for a minute. "I'm proud of you. " She told him she bought it for a reason, and maybe he'd rubbed off on her a little.

"This isn't the end of it all Parker. You and Eliot are the best friends I've got in this place. Just because you're moving, don't even start thinking I'll be that easy to get rid of." Booth paused and smiled down at her warmly. " Even if it pisses off Hardison. " His tone changed indicating the humor, and his expression to match. "This is a good thing, you've got friends here now."

Parker knew how uncomfortable things could be when one is emotionally up-front. She desperately wanted to appear happy but couldn’t hold back one pathetic sounding little sniffle. She tried to cover it up by clearing her throat.

Booth meant a lot to her. There had been the sex, but he meant more to her than just some guy she’d slept with. More or less, he was her first friend who wasn’t a thief. In fact, he was incredibly good and moral. Usually people from such different walks of life wouldn’t get along, but he was good to her and so much fun to spend time with.

“Even if it pisses off Hardison.” She agreed and laughed. Their friendship must have seemed so weird to Hardison who had just joined them. He had no idea of what was going on, there.
