Tess had seen her fair share of shocking displays in her short years and even in the memories she’d retained from her previous life, so when Danny warned her about his ability being shocking she didn’t take him as seriously as she probably should have. She gave him a nod and braced herself for whatever it was she was about to see. When he burst into flames before her Tess’ eyes widened and she clamped a hand over her open mouth.
She had created fire before but nothing like what Danny could do. For a second she went against his suggestion and took a closer look, though she soon wished that she hadn’t and flinched away at the sight of melting flesh.
Being someone whose main power was, more or less, creating illusions she wondered for a second if what she was seeing was real. Still, she wasn’t about to reach out and test to see if it burned her.
“That’s really something.” Her voice was suddenly a little smaller. Whatever she had been expecting, this wasn’t it. Tess had a streak within her that always looked out for number one. Even when she had truly repented for killing Alex and several other individuals she hadn’t been able to push it out of her system entirely. This part of her was always worried when she found someone who could pose a threat. She definitely knew that she didn’t want to be on Danny’s bad side.
