Danny glanced at her again. "Didn't really do much myself. One day the seal just decided to send me back and that was that." Like always, their fates were up to cosmic forces screwing them around for shits and giggles. It was the story of Danny's life, and his lip curled in distaste at the thought of it. "This place is big on cosmic forces screwing with us. Fair warning." He considered telling her about the angel that messed with their minds and made everyone think they worked for some company, but decided against it. Tess seemed to have a ton of questions already, he didn't want to scare her with the cosmic forces yet.
Her next question gave Danny pause. He had to think about that. "Before, it wasn't actually happening. Lucifer was in a cage and a demon was trying to break enough locks to set him free." Danny knew a little more about that than he let on, what with what Sam had told him when he'd arrived the second time, but that part wasn't his story to tell. "I don't remember it happening, so it was after I got sent back, but now Lucifer's apparently free. So it's Apocalypse Now." He almost wanted to add a joke about kicking on some Johnny Cash, but decided against it. "How long it'll last, I dunno. Until the good guys stop it, or..." He didn't finish the sentence. He didn't really think he needed to.
The next question was quite a bit easier. "Yeah. Demons here can possess you. They look like black smoke normally, but they can inhabit bodies that aren't protected." Having been possessed and sharing his body with his own ancestor for a long number of years, Danny knew how unpleasant that could be. He fixed Tess with a look that made it very clear he was being serious as he said, "You need to wear one at all times. Possession isn't fun, and demons don't care about who they're wearing, so they'll ride you hard and when they're through, you'll be dead." As much as he didn't want to scare her, Danny wanted to make absolutely sure Tess understood how important these things were. "It's magic, but it works, and it's probably one of the most important things you can do when you're new."
