“You got back? To your home?” Tess’ jaw hung open in disbelief for a moment. She wondered what would happen if she was sent back. Would she die in that explosion she’d worked so hard to create? Would she be back in one piece, able to see her son again? She shook her head as if to shake off those ideas. Tess knew better than to get her hopes up about anything, these days.
“How long has this been going on?” She looked a little confused. It seemed as if the world, here, had been ending for a long time, even while Tess had been living life in Roswell. She suspected that alternate universes rarely made sense. Lord knew that nothing else was making sense in Kansas.
“No, I haven’t gotten an amulet.” Her eyebrows wrinkled just slightly, not knowing what amulet Danny was talking about. “Is it...” She hesitated before asking, still a little self-conscious and afraid to sound ridiculous. “Magic? Or something?”
Tess was extremely relieved to have someone around who would answer her questions and, thankfully, answer them in layman’s terms. She wasn’t well-read when it came to demons or angels or the apocalypse.
