Tess finished her soup, trying not to make obscene slurping noises as she ate. She stuck the bowl in the sink, not feeling too much like washing dishes at the moment. Her stomach still felt like an empty pit. She decided to get to that matter in a short while.
“I’m new, I guess.” She responded with a shrug and leaned against the kitchen counter. “I just got here. Still a little confused about the matter...” Tess confessed. ‘Confused’ didn’t even begin to cover it. She had read up and knew all about this supposed apocalypse and it was all beginning to sink in, but she really wanted to know how she got to the apocalypse.
Her last action in the real world was to infiltrate a government facility created specifically to experiment on creatures like herself. She remembered how she got inside, all of the supposedly innocent humans she’d killed, and she remembered putting all of the energy she had left into creating one massive explosion that she had thought would take them all out. That was when she had appeared in Lawrence, Kansas. It was all very puzzling. She wondered if this place was supposed to be a sort of Purgatory for her.
“I’m Tess. How long have you been here?” She cocked her head to the side curiously.
