Jacen hadn't expected visitors, he'd not been the most social of people since being forced to this place. He missed Tenel Ka like nothing else. Tenel Ka and his little girl. And he knew, he understood that back home he was lost to dammnation and even if he wasn't he'd never see them again but he missed them nonetheless. He couldn't imagine himself with anyone else, and even the friends he'd made here...they had been his life once. All he'd done, had been for them. So here, for a long while he'd been at a loss. Even with Jaina here he'd been lost. She was younger and he wasn't sure she fully understood how much her twin brother had changed.
And as visitors went he really hadn't expected the smuggling pirate that reminded him all too much of his father, right down to the swagger. Exactly what he didn't need to deal with. And he had a fair idea of why he was here. Worried about River, about what she was learning from him. Jacen supposed he understood that, but for Mal to actually call around, it was exactly what Han would have done. Yelling would follow, swaggering, threats maybe. He didn't like dealing with people like that and tended to be more than a little tempted to just fry the idiot and move on. But of course he couldn't. Wouldn't.
He buzzed Mal into the apartment and moved to the inner door to let the smuggler into his home.
"Can I help you Captain?" he said deciding to go for formality. He didn't expect Mal would refer to him as Colonel or Chief of State in return of course.
