It happened when he was out with Tina. Ever since joining New Directions, he had been getting invited out less and less by the rest of the football team. When Matt had been around, he didn't particularly care about that because he and his best friend found ways to have their own fun. But then Matt moved away and the football team's behaviour toward the glee kids got worse. It didn't matter that Mike had been apart of the football team since his first year at McKinley High. He was a gleek as far as the popular kids were concerned and dating Tina just cemented it. Slushies to face were almost a weekly thing these days and he was just lucky that he didn't end up in the dumpster with Kurt.
He still had enough pull to avoid that.
And apparently, he had enough pull to get invited to a Cheerios party. He guessed it didn't hurt that Santana was throwing it, because even if she was apart of glee, no one messed with anyone as fierce as her. Managing to get the invite extended to Tina, he had been hanging with some of the less moronic football guys and playing beer pong, when Tina popped up by his side. "Hey, Santana's kidnapping me to give me a 'much needed makeover,'" she said, looking somewhat annoyed as she used air quotes. "If I'm not back in thirty minutes, call the police," she added with a playful smirk.
Distractedly and without taking his eyes off the red cups on the other end of the table, Mike brushed a kiss over the side of her face and said, "Uh huh. Okay, babe. Don't let her change who you are and remember, I like you no matter how you d-HEY STOP MOVING THE CUPS!"
Tina rolled her eyes and muttered, "Whatever," before heading toward an annoyed looking Santana and a blank looking Brittany.
"Hey! We're outta ice," someone called from somewhere behind Mike. "Whose gonna do an ice run? NOT IT."
A course of 'not it's' followed before Mike realized he was it. At least he was sober enough to drive. "Fine, fine, I'll be right back." Grabbing his keys out of the key bowl he had surrendered them to upon his arrival to the party, he headed for his jeep. And just as he started his jeep, a weird sensation came over him. Shaking it off with a shudder, he steered his jeep down the street in what he thought was the direction of the corner store.
Except, after a few streets he realized he didn't recognize the streets anymore. He had been all over Lima, having been grown up in that sleepy little Ohio town, and that was enough to ease his foot off the gas. Rolling to a slow stop in front of a large building, he pulled out his cell phone to dial Tina for directions. Except all he got was the operator telling him that the number he had dialed was not in service.
Getting a little more weirded out, he tried Tina again, then Santana when he got the same message. Santana didn't pan out either, so he tried Matt even though he didn't live in Lima anymore. Calls to Brittany, Finn, and Rachel followed, before he gave up. Getting out of his jeep, he leaned up against it for a moment as he thought over his options.
Then, after a moment, he shrugged and went up to the front door of the building he had stopped in front of. Buzzing the buzzer, he figured that talking to strangers was a better idea than calling his mother, who thought he was sleeping over Finn's place.
He just hoped whoever that lived in the building wasn't Asian. The Asian community was tight and would definitely rat him out to his mother.
